DWARDSVILLE – The Wilkes University men’s tennis team captured its sixth straight Freedom Conference Championship posting a 5-0 victory over King’s College Saturday afternoon at the Ralston Athletic Complex.
Wilkes moves to 15-3 overall on the year and will await word on its destiny for the NCAA National Tournament.
The Colonels raced out to a 3-0 lead after doubles competition. Tournament MVP, Michael Kranz, posted a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 3 followed by a straight set 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 4 from Max Appello to seal the title.
Wilkes has now won the past six Freedom championships dating back to the 2007-08 season.
