ANNVILLE, Pa. (Volleyball) – The 2014 Commonwealth Conference and Freedom Conference Tournament Championship Game matchups are now set for Saturday, Nov. 8. No. 1 Stevenson will host No. 3 Messiah in the Commonwealth Conference Final, while No. 1 Eastern will host No. 2 DeSales in the Freedom Conference Final.
Top-seeded Stevenson swept fourth-seeded Lycoming 3-0 (25-15, 25-14, 25-14) on Wednesday evening to advance to the Commonwealth Conference Final on Saturday. The Mustangs will host third-seeded Messiah at 2 p.m. for the Commonwealth title and a berth to the NCAA Division III tournament.
Messiah earned its spot in the championship match after sweeping second-seeded Lebanon Valley 3-0 (25-23, 25-15, 25-18) in the semifinal round in Annville.
Stevenson defeated the Falcons on the road in the regular season by a score of 3-1 (25-21, 22-25, 25-20, 25-18) on Sept. 24.
The top seed Eastern Eagles advance to the Freedom Conference Final match with a 3-0 (25-11, 25-15, 25-17) sweep of Wilkes on Wednesday. The Eagles will host second-seeded DeSales on Saturday at 5 p.m., for the Freedom title and a berth to the NCAA Division III tournament.
DeSales earned its spot in the championship match after sweeping Misericordia 3-0 (25-18, 25-10, 25-21) on Wednesday in the semifinal round in Center Valley.
Eastern defeated DeSales in the regular-season match in Center Valley by a score of 3-1 (25-6, 25-18, 24-26, 25-14) on Oct. 1.
