The No. 3 Johns Hopkins Blue Jays eliminated the No. 7 Catholic Cardinals on day two of the NCAA Division III Mid-Atlantic Regional by a score of 15-3. The Blue Jays set a season record with 22 hits in the win, and will now play on Friday in Game 9 at 10 a.m.

Johns Hopkins (28-12-1) scored two runs on four hits in the top of the first inning. The Blue Jays extended their lead to 3-0 in the second inning with one run on two hits.

The Blue Jays then added two runs on one hit in the fourth inning to take a 5-0 lead.

Johns Hopkins’ Ryan Orgielewicz hit the regional’s first home run over the 38-foot left field wall for a two-run home run in the sixth inning to give the Blue Jays a 7-0 lead. They added two more runs in the sixth for a 9-0 lead.

Catholic (27-16-1) got on the board in the bottom of the seventh inning with two runs on two hits to cut the deficit to 9-2.

The Blue Jays added six runs on six hits in the ninth to extend their lead to 15-2. They set a season-high 22 hits as a team.

The Cardinals got a run in the ninth to fall 15-3.

Orgielewicz finished going 3-for-5 with three RBIs, four runs scored and a two-run home run.

Johns Hopkins will face the loser of Game 7 between No. 4 Salisbury and No. 8 Penn State-Berks on Friday at 10 a.m.
