YORK, Pa. (Baseball) –
The No. 6 Misericordia Cougars defeated the No. 1 Kean Cougars in an elimination game on Friday at the NCAA Division III Mid-Atlantic Regional at Santander Stadium. Misericordia will advance to play No. 3 Johns Hopkins for a second time this tournament tonight at 7:45 p.m.

Misericordia (31-12) opened the game with two runs on three hits in the top of the first for a 2-0 lead. The Cougars added one run on two hits in the top of the third to push their lead to 3-0.

Kean (35-12) threatened in the bottom of the fourth, but with two outs Misericorida’s D.J. Navoczynski throws a rope from right field to get the runner going from second to home to end the inning and keep a 3-0 lead.

In the sixth inning, Kean scored two runs on three hits to cut the deficit to 3-2, but Misericordia scored a run in the seventh and two runs in the eighth to push its lead to the eventual final score, 6-2.

Misericordia’s Chris Boroch led the team going 3-for-4 with a walk, RBI and run scored. Kyle Lindsay was 2-for-5 with an RBI and run scored.

Misericordia and Johns Hopkins met on the opening day where the Cougars defeated Blue Jays by a score of 6-4. The two teams will meet again in an elimination game this evening at approximately 7:45 p.m.
