YORK, Pa. (Baseball) –
The No. 4 Salisbury Sea Gulls collected its third-straight win at the NCAA Division III Mid-Atlantic Regional to punch their ticket to the championship game on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. The Sea Gulls defeat No. 2 Alvernia by a score of 13-3.

Salisbury (32-4-1) scored on a two-out RBI singles in the top of the third inning to take a 1-0 lead. The Sea Gulls then added three runs on three hits in the fifth inning to extend their lead to 4-0.

Alvernia (34-13) scored three runs on four hits with two outs in the bottom of the fifth inning to cut the deficit to 4-3. But Salisbury stormed back.

The Sea Gulls respond in the top of the sixth inning with four runs on four hits to extend their lead to 8-3. In the seventh inning, Salisbury put two more runs on the board for a 10-3 lead.

Salisbury pushed its lead to 13-3 in the top of the ninth inning with three more runs on four hits. The Sea Gulls finished the game with 22 hits to tie for the most single-game hits this tournament with Johns Hopkins.

The Sea Gulls’ Pete Grasso was 3-for-5 with a walk, four RBIs and three runs scored. Danny Breen went 3-for-6 with a triple and two RBIs. Austin Barefoot also was 3-for-6, while Jordan Gowe and Bobby Sanzone went 3-for-5.

Alvernia will now play on Saturday at 11 a.m. in Game 13 against the winner between No. 3 Johns Hopkins and No. 6 Misericordia. The winner of Game 13 will face Salisbury on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. in the championship game.
