BETHLEHEM, Pa. (Indoor Track & Field) – The first day of the 2016 Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Indoor Track & Field Championship were completed Friday at Lehigh’s Rauch Fieldhouse. The women completed six events, while the men completed five events on the first day.

MEN’S RESULTS
5,000-Meter Run
Widener’s junior Ernie Pitone earned gold with a time of 15:10.86. Misericordia’s senior Mikael Hause claimed silver with a time of 15:17.26, and the Pride’s senior Stephen Fortin took bronze in a time of 15:29.27.
Distance Medley Relay (DMR)
Misericordia’s Jonathan Buck, Devin Oyola, Sean Luzzi and Eric Deignan won gold in the men’s distance medley relay in a time of 10:28.05. Lebanon Valley took second-place in a time of 10:31.54, and DeSales took third in a time of 10:39.13.
4x200-Meter Relay
Widener’s Ameer Sorrell, Nate Sites, Honorio Freeland and Josh Tupper won gold in the men’s 4x200-meter relay with a time of 1:31.35. The MAC Championship record, set in 2005 by Moravian, is 1:31.08. Lebanon Valley took second in a time of 1:31.54, and Misericordia was third in a time of 1:31.83.
Weight Throw
Widener’s senior Thomas Zamorski won gold with a distance of 18.03 meters. The Pride’s junior Dan Herbster took silver with a distance of 16.40 meters, and DeSales’ senior Rob Lawler took bronze with a mark of 15.67 meters.
Long Jump
Widener’s senior Ameer Sorrell won gold for the second-time in the long jump event with a distance of 6.91 meters. He also won the even in 2014. Stevenson’s Zaire Weaver took silver with a distance of 6.90 meters, and Delaware Valley’s John Jones took third with a mark of 6.87 meters.
Heptathlon (through four events)
Through four events, Messiah’s freshman Daniel Ma is in first place with 2,299 points. Ma won the shot put with a distance of 11.72 meters for 589 points. Messiah’s sophomore Matthew Kline is currently in second place with 2,294 points, and Lebanon Valley’s Brandon McMinn is in third with 2,237 points.
60-Meter Hurdles (prelims)
Earning a spot in Saturday’s finals were (in respective order): Logan Murray (Widener), Blake Lutz (Lebanon Valley), Connor Metzger (DeSales), Quenlan Dunn (Stevenson), Jeremiah Ratliff (Hood), Jonathan Bieber (Albright), Donnell McNair (Messiah) and Dane Cornelius (Messiah).
60-Meter Dash (prelims)
Earning a spot in Saturday’s finals were (in respective order): Robert Jones (DeSales), Ian McGinnis (Lebanon Valley), Ameer Sorrell (Widener), Tylor Bailey (Stevenson), Michael Harth (Misericordia), Oluwaseun Omolana (Misericordia), Mark Engle (Messiah) and Sean Meade (Misericordia).
WOMEN’S RESULTS
5,000-Meter Run
Lebanon Valley’s senior Kelsey Patrick won gold in the 5,000-meter run in a time of 17:58.50. Misericordia’s senior Bianca Bolton, who won the even a year ago, took second in a time of 18:04.66, and DeSales’ Veronica Wheeler took third in a time of 18:11.41.
Distance Medley Relay (DMR)
DeSales’ Katie Downing, Abby Labar, Beth Dauer and Meaghan Driscoll won gold in the women’s distance medley in a time of 12:41.90. Messiah finished in second-place in a time of 12:55.94, and Eastern, in their first-ever conference championship, took third in a time of 13:00.68.
4x200-Meter Relay
Widener’s Valerie McLaughlin, Kaylynne Timmons, Tanaesza Russell and Shakeira Fowler won gold in the women’s 4x200-meter relay with a time of 1:46.20. Lebanon Valley took second with a time of 1:46.72, and Misericordia came in third with a time of 1:46.74.
Weight Throw
Misericordia’s senior Sarah Wigg won gold for the second-straight season. Wigg also reset the MAC Championship record for a second-straight year, throwing a distance of 16.32 meters. The senior threw distance of 15.55 meters in 2015. DeSales’ senior Megan Warner took silver with a distance of 14.90 meters, and Widener’s junior Caitlin Yakas won bronze with a distance of 13.74 meters.
Pole Vault
Messiah’s senior Rachel Robison won gold for a third-straight year. Robison won this year’s event with a personal best height of 3.55 meters. Messiah’s freshman Grace Riedel took silver with a height of 3.35 meters, and Widener’s junior Miranda Broussard took bronze with a mark of 2.90 meters.
Long Jump
Widener’s freshman Valerie McLaughlin won gold with a new MAC Championship record distance of 5.71 meters. Lebanon Valley’s Olivia Jendrzejewski took silver with a distance of 5.70 meters. Jendrzejewski’s mark also bettered the previous championship best mark of 5.68 meters. Lebanon Valley’s Jessica Olewine took third with a mark of 5.53 meters.
60-Meter Hurdles (prelims)
Earning a spot in Saturday’s finals were (in respective order): Reilly Wagner (Misericordia), Kristen Frawley (Messiah), Abby McMinn (Messiah), Laura Calderone (Lebanon Valley), Briana McKnight (Widener), Rebecca Querfeld (Messiah), Andrea Christmas (Hood) and Jacqueline Mangogna (Hood.).
