DOYLESTOWN, Pa. (Men’s Basketball) – The third-seeded Delaware Valley Aggies defeated fourth-seeded Wilkes Colonels, 75-72, to claim their third MAC Freedom men’s basketball title. The Aggies punched their ticket to the NCAA Division III Championship.
Wilkes (14-13) led Delaware Valley (20-7) at the half by a score of 38-36. But the Aggies outscored the Colonels, 39-34, in the second half and held on for a 75-72 win.
The Aggies’ Chris Moran scored a team-high 22 points on 9-of-17 shooting. Tyliek Kimbrough (18), Zach Sly (15) and Alex Matsinye (12) also scored in double figures for Delaware Valley.
The Colonels’ Steve Stravinski scored a game-high 27 points on 8-for-12 shooting from behind the arc. Stravinski added 11 rebounds for the game’s only double-double. Alec Wizar also scored in double figures with 18 points.
Delaware Valley’s Moran was named the 2015-16 MAC Freedom Championship Most Valuable Player.
