Championship Central
BETHLEHEM, Pa. (Men’s Indoor Track & Field) – The No. 11 Widener Pride won their seventh-straight Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Men’s Indoor Track & Field Championship on Saturday with a total of 209 points. Lebanon Valley finished second with 122 points.
Widener’s head coach Vince Touey was named the MAC Coach of the Year. DeSales’ Robert Jones was named MAC Track Athlete of the Year. Widener’s Ameer Sorrell was named MAC Field Athlete of the Year, and Stevenson’s Tevin Bailey was named MAC Rookie of the Year.

60-Meter Dash
DeSales’ sophomore Robert Jones wins gold with a time of 6.96 seconds. Lebanon Valley’s junior Ian McGinnis took silver with a time of 7.05 seconds, and Stevenson’s freshman Tylor Bailey claimed bronze in a time of 7.11 seconds.
60-Meter Hurdles
Hood’s sophomore Jeremiah Ratliff won gold with a time of 8.85 seconds. Albright’s sophomore Jonathan Bieber took silver with a time of 8.92 seconds, and DeSales’ sophomore Connor Metzger claimed bronze with a time of 8.99 seconds.
200-Meter Dash
DeSales’ sophomore Robert Jones won gold with a time of 22.55 seconds. Lebanon Valley’s junior Ian McGinnis took silver with a time of 22.5 seconds, and Albright’s senior Oumar Diawara took bronze with a time of 22.63 seconds.
400-Meter Dash
Widener’s sophomore Josh Tupper won gold with a time of 49.28 seconds. Misericordia’s senior Andrew Nelson took silver in a time of 50.23 seconds, and Albright’s senior Oumar Diawara took bronze with a time of 50.45 seconds. Diawara won the 2015 title.
800-Meter Run
Widener’s senior Leo Harmon won gold with a new MAC Championship record time of 1:54.27, bettering the 2005 record of 1:54.42 set by Elizabethtown’s Patrick Donovan. The Pride’s senior Qadree Counsel took silver in a time of 1:56.77, and Messiah’s senior Phil Headland took bronze in a time of 1:57.02.
Mile Run
Widener’s junior Ernie Pitone won gold with a time of 4:14.57, just a second off the championship record of 4:14.63. The Pride’s senior Qadree Counsel took silver with a time of 4:15. 49, and Lebanon Valley’s senior Andrew Goelz captured bronze with a time of 4:18.35.
3,000-Meter Run
Widener’s junior Will McDermott won gold with a new MAC Championship record time of 8:36.41. Misericordia’s senior Mikael Hause took silver with a time of 8:49.34, and Widener’s Stephen Fortin took bronze with a time of 8:50.31.
4x400-Meter Relay
Widener’s Honorio Freeland, Nate Sites, Alex Flores and Josh Tupper won gold with a new MAC Championship record time of 3:22.02. Misericordia took silver with a time of 3:24.57, and Lebanon Valley took bronze in a time of 3:28.85.
4x800-Meter Relay
Lebanon Valley’s Corey Johnson (Fr.), Terrence Habiyaremye (So.), Andrew Goelz (Sr.), Nicholas Scullin (Jr.) won gold in a time of 7:58.14. Messiah took silver in a time of 8:07.38, and DeSales took bronze in a time of 8:11.36.
Shot Put
DeSales’ Rob Lawler won gold with a distance of 15.34 meters. Lebanon Valley’s Adam Wagaman took silver with a distance of 15.14 meters, and Widener’s Anthony Robertson took bronze with a distance of 14.59 meters.
Pole Vault
Messiah’s junior Tim Moses reset his MAC Championship record in the Pole Vault for a second-straight year with a height of 5.13 meters. Messiah’s Dane Cornelius took silver with a height of 4.50 meters, and Widener’s Malik Dixon took bronze with a mark of 4.20 meters.
Triple Jump
Widener’s Ameer Sorrell won gold with a mark of 14.72 meters. The Pride’s Josh Colley took silver with a mark of 14.33 meters, and Misericorida’s Olutobi Olugbenga took bronze with a mark of 13.77 meters.
High Jump
Stevenson’s Tevin Bailey won gold with a mark of 1.93 meters. The Mustangs’ Steven Sneed took silver with a height of 1.88 meters, and DeSales’ Jean Falcon took bronze with a mark of 1.88 meters.
Heptathlon
Messiah’s junior Dane Cornelius won the men’s heptathlon gold with 4,011 points. The Falcons’ sophomore Aaron Gray took silver with 3,897 points, and freshman Daniel Ma took bronze with 3,878 points.
