Misericordia Claims Second MAC Indoor Track & Field Title

The Cougars collected 163 points to claim second-straight conference title

BETHLEHEM, Pa. (Women’s Indoor Track & Field) –
The Misericordia Cougars won their second-straight Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Women’s Indoor Track & Field Championship on Saturday with a total of 163 points. Lebanon Valley finished second with 132 points.
 
Misericordia’s head coach Chris Wadas was named the MAC Coach of the Year. Misericordia’s Bianca Bolton was named MAC Track Athlete of the Year. Lebanon Valley’s Olivia Jendrzejewski was named MAC Field Athlete of the Year, and Widener’s Valerie McLaughlin was named the MAC Rookie of the Year.

60-Meter Dash
Misericordia’s freshman Oniesha Clarke won gold with a new fastest championship finals time of 7.71 seconds. Manhattanville’s junior Shannon Roberts took silver with a time of 7.80 seconds, and Alvernia’s junior Heather Wanner took bronze with a time of 7.82 seconds.
 
60-Meter Hurdles
Messiah’s freshman Abby McMinn won gold with a time of 9.31 seconds. The Falcons’ sophomore Kristen Frawley won silver with a time of 9.43 seconds, and Lebanon Valley’s senior Laura Calderone took bronze with a time of 9.65 seconds.
 
200-Meter Dash
Manhattanville’s junior Shannon Roberts wins gold with a new MAC Championship record time of 25.43 seconds, bettering the previous record 25.94 seconds set in 2014. Widener’s freshman Valerie McLaughlin also surpassed the previous record time for silver in a time of 25.66 seconds. Misericordia’s freshman Oniesha Clarke also topped the 2014 mark for bronze with a time of 25.86 seconds.
 
400-Meter Dash
Misericordia’s senior Amy Viti broke her own MAC Championship record for a second-straight year to win the women’s 400-meter dash in a time of 57.63 seconds. Viti has won the last three titles in this event. The Cougars’ junior Mary Fairchild took silver in a time of 59.27 seconds, and Alvernia’s freshman Ashley Stoltzfus won bronze with a time of 1:00.14.
 
800-Meter Run
Misericordia’s senior Amy Viti won gold in a time of 2:18.47. Messiah’s senior Emily Senning took silver in a time of 2:19.97, and DeSales’ junior Beth Dauer took bronze in a time of 2:20.75.
 
Mile Run
Misericordia’s senior Bianca Bolton won gold with a time of 5:11.13. The Cougars’ junior Bethany Killmon took silver for a second-straight year with a time of 5:14.82, and DeSales’ freshman Angelina Biondo claimed bronze with a time of 5:15.59.
 
3,000-Meter Run
Lebanon Valley’s senior Kelsey Patrick won gold with a time of 10:09.73. DeSales’ freshman Angelina Biondo took silver in a time of 10:18.74, and freshman Meaghan Driscoll took bronze in a time of 10:28.91.
 
4x400-Meter Relay
Misericordia’s Mary Fairchild (So.), Kelty Fairchild (So.), Melanie Fry (Fr.) and Amy Viti (Jr.) won the women’s 4x400-meter relay in a time of 4:07.85. Alvernia finished second in a time of 4:12.52, and Lebanon Valley took third in a time of 4:15.55.
 
4x800-Meter Relay
Lebanon Valley’s Lauren Decker, Hannah Kramlik, Teanna Shutt and Sarah Grow won gold in a time of 9:56.48. Widener took silver in a time of 10:01.83, and DeSales took bronze in a time of 10:03.78.
 
High Jump
Lebanon Valley’s junior Olivia Jendrzejewski won gold with a distance of 1.68 meters. Misericordia’s freshman Reilly Wagner won silver with a distance of 1.63 meters, and Alvernia’s freshman Sara Gray took bronze with a mark of 1.58 meters.
 
Triple Jump
Lebanon Valley’s junior Olivia Jendrzejewski won gold with a mark of 11.44 meters. Messiah’s junior Marie Johnson, the 2015 champion, took silver with a distance of 11.19 meters, and the Dutchmen’s freshman Jessica Olewin won bronze with a mark of 11.09 meters.
 
Shot Put
King’s freshman Jillian Koreski won the Monarch’s first-ever MAC gold medal with a distance of 13.70 meters in the shotput. King’s is in their first season of track & field. Alvernia’s sophomore Tyra Roberts took silver with a distance of 12.20 meters, and Widener’s junior Caitlin Yakas claimed bronze with a distance of 11.97 meters.
 
Pentathlon
Messiah’s Rebecca Quefeld won gold with a total of 2,915 points. Lebanon Valley’s Taylor Gerchak took silver with 2,692 points, and Hood’s Jacqueline Mangogna took bronze with 2,642 points.
