HERSHEY, Pa. (Women’s Golf) – The Stevenson Mustangs claimed their second-straight Middle Atlantic Conference Women’s Golf Championship on Monday at the Hershey Country Club. The Mustangs won by 27 strokes over Eastern. Lebanon Valley’s Megan Kimmel won the individual title by two strokes to be named the MAC Golfer of the Year.
Stevenson’s Chris Ramer was named the MAC Coach of the Year. Alvernia’s Emily Gilbert was named the MAC Rookie of the Year.
Stevenson finished with a two-round team score of 741 (379-362) to defeated Eastern by 27 strokes. The Eagles finished the tournament with a score of 768. Lebanon Valley placed third with a score of 775. Alvernia (819) and FDU-Florham (837) rounded out the top-5 in the team standings. Abright (881), Misericordia (916), Arcadia (925) and Wilkes (1125) rounded out the team standings.
Kimmel shot a two-round score of 174 (87-87) to defeat both Stevenson’s Alicia Greene and Emily Haas, who shot a 176, by two strokes. Alvernia’s Gilbert finished in fourth with a score of 179, and Lycoming’s Hailey Fricke shot a 183 for fifth. All five golfers were named All-MAC First Team.
Manhattanville’s Gabriela Estevez took sixth place with a score of 185. Stevenson’s Morgan Wirtz, the 2015 MAC Golfer and Rookie of the Year, placed seventh with a score of 186. The Valiants’ Kendyl Nethercott was seventh with a score of 188. Alvernia’s Cayla McCarty (189) was ninth, while FDU-Florham’s Jordan Durham and Eastern’s Sofia Frantz and Summer Frantz tied for 10
th with a score of 190. The seven golfers were named All-MAC Second Team.
