Allen, Anastasi, Nishibun, Viti Selected as NCAA Woman of the Year Conference Honorees

Messiah’s Courtney Allen (MAC Commonwealth), Delaware Valley’s Eireann Anastasi (MAC Freedom), Lycoming’s Bree Nishibun (MAC Commonwealth) and Misericordia’s Amy Viti (MAC) up for NCAA Woman of the Year

INDIANAPOLIS (Conference News) – On Wednesday, the NCAA announced the conference honorees for the 2016 NCAA Woman of the Year award. A total of 141 NCAA college athletes have been named honorees by conferences and independent schools. Four student-athletes will represent the Middle Atlantic Conferences (MAC), including Messiah’s Courtney Allen, Delaware Valley’s Eireann Anastasi, Lycoming’s Bree Nishibun and Misericordia’s Amy Viti.
 
The 141 honorees include 54 Division I, 36 Division II and 51 Division III student-athletes. Forty of the honorees are multisport student-athletes.

The Woman of the Year selection committee will next select the top-10 honorees in each division. These top-30 honorees will be announced in early September. The selection committee will then choose and announce the top-nine finalists (three from each division) at the end of September. The NCAA Committee on Women’s Athletics will votes from amongst those nine finalists to determine the 2016 NCAA Woman of the Year.
 
The 2016 NCAA Woman of the Year winner will be announced, and the top 30 honorees celebrated, at the annual award ceremony on Oct. 16 in Indianapolis.
 
Now in its 26th year, the NCAA Woman of the Year award recognizes graduating female student-athletes for excellence in academics, athletics, community service and leadership.
