Albright men, Messiah women lead through six events

YORK, Pa. (Swimming) –
The second day of the 2017 Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Men’s and Women’s Swimming Championships were completed on Friday at the Graham Aquatic Center.
 
Through six events, Messiah remains atop the women’s standings with 223 points. Widener is in second with 200 points, Arcadia is third with 179 points, Stevenson is fourth with 143 points and Albright is fifth with 132 points.
 
Albright now leads the men with 221 points. Arcadia is in second with 189 points and Widener is right behind in third with 185 points. Messiah is in fourth with 125 points and King’s follows closely with 124 points.

400-YARD MEDLEY RELAY
Women
Messiah’s Joelle Williamson, Emily Reale, Cassie Cotton and Katie Wingert won gold with a time of 3:57.83, just shy of the championship record time set by Misericordia in 2014 (3:57.52). Stevenson collected silver in a time of 4:00.45, and Arcadia took bronze in a time of 4:01.49.
 
Men
Widener’s Michael Grajek, Paolo Cortez, AJ Green and Ian Gaynor won gold with a time of 3:28.61. Albright came in second for silver with a time of 3:29.81, and Arcadia took bronze with a time of 3:30.75.
 
 
500-YARD FREESTYLE
Women
Arcadia’s freshman Megan Hupp won gold with a time of 5:07.96, almost eight seconds faster than defending champion Emily Reale of Messiah. Reale took silver in a time of 5:15.16. Widener’s Melaney Heald took bronze in a time of 5:15.41.
 
Men
Arcadia’s Grant Fisher won gold with a time of 4:40.23. Widener’s Martin Bohdan took silver in a time of 4:41.22, and Messiah’s Drew Wolfe won bronze with a time of 4:42.79.
 
200-YARD INDIVIDUAL MEDLEY (IM)
Women
Messiah Katie Wingert claims third-straight gold as the women’s 200-yard IM champion with a time of 2:07.90. Stevenson’s Melanie Milam took silver in a time of 2:08.73, and Widener’s Jill Bujanowski won bronze with a time of 2:10.45.
 
Men
Albright’s Ken Richardson wins gold for a second-straight year with a time of 1:53.97, just shy of championship record set in 2010 by Albright’s Christ Sheerer (1:53.79). Lebanon Valley’s Ian Lloyd took silver in a time of 1:55.32, and Misericordia’s Thomas Scott won bronze with a time of 1:56.92.
 
 
50-YARD FREESTYLE
Women
Messiah’s Cassie Cotton won gold with a time of 23.95seconds, just shy of Laura Harris’ (Widener) 2011 championship record time of 23.83 seconds. Widener’s Christine Kunzler took silver in a time of 24.08 seconds, and Messiah’s Tara Freeman took bronze in a time of 24.22 seconds.
 
Men
Widener’s Ian Gaynor won the 50-yard freestyle for a third-straight year. This year with a time of 20.55 seconds. Gaynor broke the MAC Championship record in prelims with a time of 20.41 seconds. Both of his times today are NCAA provisional times. Albright’s Jay Deschamps took silver in a time of 21.16 seconds, and Arcadia’s Tristan Highet took bronze in a time of 21.51 seconds.
