DAY ONE: MAC Swimming Championship Results

Messiah women won both the 200-yard medley and 800-yard freestyle relays with championship record times

YORK, Pa. (Swimming) –
The first day of the 2017 Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Men’s and Women’s Swimming Championships were completed on Thursday at the Graham Aquatic Center.
 
Through two events, Messiah is on top of the women’s standings with 80 points and two golds. Arcadia is in second with 64 points and two bronze medals. Widener is in third with 62 points and a silver medal, and Stevenson is in fourth with 60 points and a silver medal. Misericordia, Albright and King’s are all tied for fifth with 54 points each.
 
Widener is on top of the men’s standings with 74 points with one gold and one silver medal. Albright is in second with 72 points with one gold and one bronze medal. Arcadia is in third with 64 points and a silver medal. Misericordia and King’s are tied for fourth with 58 points each. The Monarchs collected a bronze medal.

200-YARD MEDLEY RELAY
Women
Messiah’s Joelle Williamson, Megan Freeman, Cassie Cotton and Tara Freeman took gold with a time of 1:47.95 to set the new MAC Championship record by .03 seconds. Stevenson took silver in a time of 1:48. 67, and Arcadia took bronze in a time of 1:48.80.
 
Men
Albright’s Sean Riddle, Tyler Chamberlin, Maliq Williams and Jay Deschamps claimed gold with a time of 1:34.18. Widener finished in second for bronze in a time of 1:35.28, while King’s claimed bronze with a time of 1:36.07.
 
 
800-YARD FREESTYLE RELAY
Women
Messiah’s Cotton, Freeman, Emily Reale and Katie Wingert claimed the Falcons’ second gold medal of the evening with a new championship record time of 7:45.38, beating their 2016 record time of 7:45.99. Widener came in second for silver with a time of 7:45.64, and Arcadia took bronze with a time of 7:55.75.
 
Men
Widener’s Michaal Grajek, Martin Bohdan, Tom Platt and Jeffery Hicks won gold with a new championship record time of 6:53.29, bettering the Pride’s 2015 record time of 6:55.20. Arcadia took silver with a time of 6:56.24, and Albright won bronze with a time of 6:59.99.
