HERSHEY, Pa. (Men’s Golf) – The Stevenson Mustangs came back on the second day to win their second-straight MAC Commonwealth Men’s Golf title, third all-time. Arcadia’s Kyle Henofer won the Knights’ first-ever individual men’s golf title at the Hershey Country Club on Sunday.
Stevenson finish day one in fourth-place, but shot the team low-round of the championship on Sunday to capture their second-straight conference title. The Mustangs shot a 302 on Sunday after shooting a 321 on Saturday for a combined score of 623 (+55).
The Mustang’s Chris Ramer was named the 2017 MAC Commonwealth Men’s Golf Coach of the Year.
Messiah moved up from third to finish second with a two-round score of 639 (+71). Lebanon Valley took third with a score of 642 (+74). The Dutchmen had the lead through day one with a first-round score of 307.
Alvernia (649 | +81) and Albright (664 | +96) rounded out the top-five. Hood (676 | +108), Arcadia (676 |+116) and Widener (689 | +121) also recorded team scores in respective order.
Henofer shot a two-round score of 151 (+9) to win by one stroke. He shot a championship-round low 73 (+2) on Sunday after tying for sixth through the first day with a 78 (+7). Henofer was named the 2017 MAC Commonwealth Sorrentino Men’s Golfer of the Year.
Four golfers tied for second-place with a score of 152 (+10) to round out the All-MAC Commonwealth First Team, including Stevenson’s Austin Fuglestad and Andrew Wally, Lebanon Valley’s David Herbst and Messiah’s Jordan Kirsch.
Wally was named the 2017 MAC Commonwealth Men’s Golf Rookie of the Year as the low rookie.
