No. 1 Johns Hopkins Routs No. 8 Lesley, 15-2, in Game 2 of Mid-Atlantic Regional

YORK, Pa. (Baseball) –
The top-seeded Johns Hopkins Blue Jays defeated the eighth-seeded Lesley Lynx, 15-2, in game two of the 2017 NCAA Division III Mid-Atlantic Regional at PeoplesBank Park in York.
 
Lesley (21-18-1) struck first in the top of the first inning. Vincent Taliercio led off with a double to right center, and then scored on a fielding error on a Blue Jays’ double-play attempt.
 
Johns Hopkins (37-6) rallied in the bottom of the third with three runs on three hits to take their first lead of the game at 3-1.
 
The Blue Jays’ Conor Reynolds capped an eight-run fifth inning with a two-run home run over the “Arch Nemesis” (left-field wall) to give Johns Hopkins an 11-1 lead. Reynolds also had a single and a double on the day. He opened the bottom of the first-inning with a double off the top of the 37’-8” wall.
 
The Lynx added a run in the top of the sixth to cut the deficit to 11-2. But an inning later, the Blue Jays added four more runs for a 15-2 lead through seven innings and for the eventual final score.
 
Hopkins’ Harrison Folk picked up the win with three-innings pitched and three strikeouts.
 
Lesley’s Tm Muratore suffered the loss with 4-and-2/3 innings pitched.
 
Johns Hopkins will advance to the winner’s bracket and face No. 5 Alvernia on Friday at 4:30 p.m.
 
Lesley will fall to the loser’s bracket and face No. 4 RIT on Friday at 10 a.m.
