2018 MAC Men’s Tennis Individual Championship Set for Weekend

The conference championship will be held at Kirby Park and Wilkes University courts in Wilkes-Barre

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. (Men’s Tennis) –
The 2018 Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Men’s Tennis Individual Championship is set for this weekend, Oct. 13-14. King’s College and Wilkes University will host this year’s championship at Kirby Park and Wilkes University courts in Wilkes-Barre.
 
Action is set to get underway on Saturday, Oct. 13 at 9 a.m. However, if there is a weather concern for the weekend in Wilkes-Barre, action could begin on Friday, Oct. 12. Any schedule changes will be announced Thursday evening after the coaches’ pre-championship meeting around 8 p.m. (Full Schedule of Events)
 
Admission to the 2018 MAC Men’s Tennis Individual Championship is free and parking is available in the lot adjacent to the Ralston Field Complex.
 
A limited amount of graphite heather long-sleeve t-shirts will be for sale on site for $18 each. The shirts are made of 100% polyester interlock with moister-wick and UVA performance protection. The Wilkes Colonels swept both the singles flights and doubles flights at the 2017 MAC Men’s Individual Championship. Wilkes returns four singles champions from last year, including Courtney Murphy (No. 1), Jonathan White (No. 3), Chris Maderitz (No. 5) and Braddock Chow (No. 6). All four doubles champions from 2017 do not have both players returning.
 
Wilkes leads the conference with 45 all-time singles champions and 29 all-time doubles champions at the conference individual championship.
 
The Manhattanville Valiants make their return to the court this year after dropping the program following the conclusion of the 2011-12 season. The Valiants increase the total number of conference programs to 16. Manhattanville has six MAC singles champions and four doubles champions from prior to its leave of absence.
 
Seeding and brackets for this year’s tournament will be posted on the championship central page after the coaches’ pre-championship meeting around 8 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 11.

NOTE: The 2019 MAC Men’s Tennis Individual Championship will stay at 16 squads despite Manhattanville leaving the MAC after the 2018-19 season. The Stevens Institute of Technology Ducks will compete in their first individual championship in the fall of 2019 as they return to the MAC next July.

The 2018 MAC Women's Tennis Individual Championship is set for next week, Oct. 20-21, in Wilkes-Barre.
