Messiah women won the 200-yard medley relay with a new MAC overall and championship record time

YORK, Pa. (Swimming) – The first day of the 2018 Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Men’s and Women’s Swimming Championships were completed on Thursday at the Graham Aquatic Center.
Through two events, Arcadia leads the men’s standings with 68 points. King’s and Messiah are tied in second with 66 points. Misericordia is in fourth with 64 points, and Albright rounds out the top-five with 62 points.
The Messiah women are on top of the women’s standings through two events with 70 points. Arcadia and Widener are tied in second with 62 points. Albright and King’s are tied in fourth with 58 points to round out the top-five teams.

200-YARD MEDLEY RELAY
Men
King’s Bryce Groshardt, Rhyce Hammaker, Chris Dionne and Dan Weekes won gold with a time of 1:35.78. Misericordia took silver with a time of 1:35.91, and Messiah captured bronze with a time of 1:36.05.
Women
Messiah’s Kaylee Hollenbach, Nicea McCabe, Cassie Cotton and Katie Wingert won gold in the women’s 200-yard medley relay with a new MAC Championship and MAC overall record time of 1:46.93. They broke the Falcons’ previous best conference mark of 1:47.95 that was set at the 2017 conference championship. Stevenson took silver with a time of 1:49.14, and King’s won bronze with a time of 1:50.83.
800-YARD FREESTYLE RELAY
Men
Arcadia’s Travis Dalton, Michael Melissen, Mark Preedy and Grant Fisher won gold in the men’s 800-yard freestyle relay with a time of 6:54.09, less than a second off the MAC overall and championship record time of 6:53.29 set in 2017 by Widener. Messiah took home silver with a time of 6:58.78, and Albright won bronze with a time of 7:00.92.
Women
Widener’s Kaylin Augustine, Jill Bujanowski, Christine Kunzler and Nikki Mowry won gold in the women’s 800-yard freestyle relay with a time of 7:52.00. Albright claimed silver with a time of 7:52.26, and Arcadia won bronze with a time of 7:52.41.
