Four MAC Championship records and one overall MAC record fell on day one

BETHLEHEM, Pa. (Indoor Track & Field) –
The first day of the 2019 Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Indoor Track & Field Championship were completed Friday at Lehigh University’s Rauch Fieldhouse. The women completed six events, while the men completed five events.
 
There were four conference championship records one overall MAC record broken on day one. The records were broken in the men’s 5,000-meter run, women’s, 5000-meter run, men’s distance medley relay (DMR) and women’s weight throw.

MEN’S RESULTS
5,000-Meter Run
Widener’s Frank Livolsi won gold with a new MAC Championship record time of 14:49.45. The previous record was held since 1992 by Widener’s Frank McGovern. Stevenson’s Patrick Watson took silver with a time of 15:03.57, and Messiah’s Benjamin Schott won bronze with a time of 15:04.47.
 
Distance Medley Relay (DMR)
All three medalist better the previous MAC Championship record time of 10:26.23 set in 2017 by Stevenson. Misericordia’s Zachary Davis, Devin Oyola, Riley Newman and Alexander Fitch set the new championship record, finishing first in very close finish, with a time of 10:24.11. Messiah took silver with a time of 10:24.52, and Eastern won bronze with a time of 10:24.57.
 
4x200-Meter Relay
Lebanon Valley’s Owen Buhr, Matthew Weck, Logan Grauer and Nathan Anzel won gold with a time of 1:31.82. Stevenson took silver with a time of 1:32.34, and Widener won bronze with a time of 1:34.06.
 
Weight Throw
DeSales’ Chris Brinkman won gold with a mark of 15.81 meters. King’s Jackie Ni took silver with a distance of 15.54 meters, and King’s Justin Le Cadre won bronze with a mark of 15.15 meters.
 
Long Jump
Widener’s Matthew Ludlow won gold with a jump of 6.82 meters. Eastern’s Evan Wildermuth took silver with a mark of 6.77 meters, and King’s Matthew Nelson won bronze with a jump of 6.60 meters.
 
Heptathlon (through four events)
Through four events, Stevenson’s Ritchie Case is in first place with 2,709 points. Messiah’s Caleb Puleo is in second with 2,430 points and Eastern’s Azel Foster sits in third with 2,331 points.
 
60-Meter Hurdles (prelims)
Earning a spot in Saturday’s final were (in respective order): Lebanon Valley’s Logan Grauer (8.69), DeSales’ Daniel Mends (8.71), Eastern’s Michael Shea (8.86), Widener’s Davon Bess (8.91), Lebanon Valley’s Owen Buhr (8.32), Stevenson’s Ritchie Case (9.02), Misericordia’s Wesley Hill (9.05) and Messiah’s Andrew Schott (9.08).
 
60-Meter Dash (prelims)
Earning a spot in Saturday’s final were (in respective order): Stevenson’s Dereck Davis (6.95), Stevenson’s Kendall Belser (6.95), King’s Emmanuel Edoukou (7.06), Stevenson’s Malcolm Hayward (7.09), Stevenson’s Morgan Cheatham (7.12), Messiah’s Brendan Provan (7.13), Widener’s Matthew Ludlow (7.17) and Stevenson’s Clement Onyebadi (7.18).
 
 
WOMEN’S RESULTS
5,000-Meter Run
Misericordia’s Clare Schoen wins her second-straight gold in the women’s 5,000-meter, this year with a new MAC Championship record time of 17:32.05. The previous record was held since 2008, when Elizabethtown’s Erin Fisher ran a time of 17:34.50. DeSales’ Meaghan Driscoll took silver with a time of 17:59.60, and Eastern’s Kierra Zack won bronze with a time of 18:23.13.
 
Distance Medley Relay (DMR)
Eastern’s Megan Bernotas, Cecilia Jones, Katelyn Bernotas and Mary Bernotas won gold with a time of 12:46.00. Stevenson took silver with a time of 12:54.39, and Widener won bronze with a time of 12:56.15.
 
4x200-Meter Relay
Widener’s Aishah Dukes, Alejandra Borbolla Diaz, Claire Burkert and Alaina Johnson won gold with a time of 1:47.57. Stevenson took silver with a time of 1:47.66, and Messiah won bronze with a time of 1:48.27.
 
Weight Throw
Widener’s Allison Reuter won gold with a mark of 16.39 meters. His throw broke both the overall MAC and MAC Championship record throw of 16.32 meters set in 2016 by Misericordia’s Sarah Wigg. Stevenson’s Allison Bishop took silver with a mark of 15.69 meters, and the Mustangs’ Lauren Dioses won bronze with a distance of 15.38 meters.
 
Pole Vault
Misericordia’s Madison Swartout won gold with a mark of 3.25 meters. Lebanon Valley’s Olivia Faloon took silver with 3.25 meters, but failed on 3.00 on her first attempt to take second. Widener’s Hailey Welchans won bronze with a mark of 3.15 meters.
 
Long Jump
Eastern’s Nicole Weenink won gold with a mark of 5.75 meters. Stevenson’s Kimberly Hammond took silver with a mark of 5.57 meters, and Misericordia’s Reilly Wagner won bronze with a distance of 5.41 meters.
 
60-Meter Hurdles (prelims)
Earning a spot in Saturday’s final were (in respective order): Misericordia’s Reilly Wagner (9.03), Messiah’s Abby McMinn (9.29), Widener’s Alaina Johnson (9.32), Eastern’s Nicole Weenink (9.33), Stevenson’s Rachel Panek (9.46), King’s Emily Harrington (9.53), Messiah’s Kathryn Wiederrecht (9.62) and Alvernia’s Susanna Pirollo (9.72).
 
60-Meter Dash (prelims)
Earning a spot in Saturday’s final were (in respective order): Lebanon Valley’s Alyssa Diffenderfer (8.00), Stevenson’s Kimberly Hammond (8.06), Widener’s Danielle Peyton (8.06), King’s Ellen Kuzma (8.13), Messiah’s Kathryn Wiederrecht (8.13), Stevenson’s Ashlynne Raby (8.13), Eastern’s Courtney Moyer (8.14) and Widener’s Claire Burkert (8.20).
