Perez, Mustangs Lead After Day One of MAC Championship

Stevenson’s Amanda Perez shot a 78 (+6) first-round score to lead the championship after day one

WHITE HAVEN, Pa. (Women’s Golf) – The first day of the 2019 Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Women’s Golf Championship was completed on Saturday at Mountain Laurel Golf Club. Stevenson freshman Amanda Perez leads the field after the first day. Stevenson is also lead in the team standings through 18 holes.
 
Stevenson leads the team standings through one round with a score of 323 (+35). Alvernia is second with a score of 330 (+42), Eastern is in third with a score of 344 (+56), Manhattanville is fourth with a score of 366 (+78) and Arcadia rounds out the top-five with a score of 373 (+85).

Also scoring was Misericordia (439 | +151) and Hood (513 | +225).
 
Perez leads the field of 41 golfers with a first-round score of 78 (+6) to lead Alvernia senior Emily Gilbert by one stroke. Gilbert, the two-time defending MAC Champion, shot a first-round score of 79 (+7). Alvernia’s Yupha Muzyka and Stevenson’s Laura Rentz are tied for third with a round of 80 (+8). Stevenson’s Julia Kline rounded out the top-five with a score of 81 (+9).
 
Eastern’s Sofia Frantz and Summer Frantz sit tied in sixth-place with scores of 83 (+11). Stevenson’s Emma VanDerCar and Misericordia’s Alexis Wyandt are tied for eighth with scores of 84 (+12). Alvernia’s Briana Hocker and Albright’s Heather MacQuarrie finished out the top-10 with scores of 85 (+13) each.


The second and final round of the 2019 MAC Women’s Golf Championship is set to tee off at 8 a.m. on Sunday, April 28. The final pairings will be released on the championship central page Saturday evening.
