Sophomore Alena Marani was named Commonwealth Conference Tournament MVP after leading the Blue Jays to their second straight league title Saturday. The sophomore played No. 2 doubles with Allison Burkhardt in Wednesday's sweep of Lycoming in the semifinals. There the two beat Sayumi Akashi and Linda Fogg 8-1. Marani was leading her singles match 6-3, but it went unfinished as the Jays took the match in a hurry. In Saturday's championship, Marani and Burkhardt beat LVC's Tam Lobb and Lauren Fulmer, 8-4 in doubles and the Baltimore native beat Fulmer 7-5, 6-3 at No. 2 singles.
