The Messiah College Falcons won their first Commonwealth Championship for men's basketball since 2006 this weekend, thanks in large part to a strong week from sophomore David Fernandez. The dynamic guard was named the Tournament's Most Value Player as he averaged 20.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 3.5 assists in Messiah's two wins. In Wednesday's OT win over Albright, Fernandez scored a game-high 25 points and also collected 3 steals. In Saturday's championship win over Lycoming, he tied for a game-high 16 points, collecting 6 rebounds and 4 assists as Messiah will enter the NCAA Championships for the first time since 2007.
