Senior left fielder Sam Tajiri was only one of an entire team of Falcons that upset #1-seed Alvernia University in the Commonwealth Baseball Championships this weekend, but he came up with perhaps the biggest hit of the conference postseason. In the bottom of the 7th inning in the Championships' final game, Tajiri laced a one-out RBI double to right field to break a 1-1 tie and propel his team to a 2-1 win over Alvernia. The Falcons twice defeated the Crusders over the tournament's three days. Tajiri batted .429 with a walk and two stolen bases, making 14 putouts in the outfield as Messiah won their second-straight baseball title.
