Kempa enjoyed a record-setting performance in King’s 44-32 loss at Wilkes in the 17th annual Mayor’s Cup Game. The sophomore caught 10 passes in the game, the second highest single-game total in King’s history, for a school-record 237 receiving yards. He also equaled a school-record with three receiving touchdowns in the game. His touchdown catches were for 14, 31, and 51 yards. In addition, Kempa had seven catches that resulted in non-touchdown first-downs to keep drives alive. Kempa also returned five kickoffs for 85 yards and had two punt returns for 17 yards as he posted 337 all-purpose yards. He was named King’s Most Valuable Player in the contest.
