MAC Men’s Swimmer of the Week
Ian Gaynor (Widener / Sr. / Donegal, Ireland) earns his third conference weekly award of the season. Gaynor led Widener to a third-place finish, second overall Division III school, at the F&M Invitational. The senior factored into six top-four finishes, four event victories, two meet records and one school record against Division I, II and III swimmers. Individually, Gaynor won the 50 and 100-yard freestyle events in times of 20.71 and 45.67 seconds, respectively. His 50-yard preliminary time of 20.49 seconds was also a meet record and an NCAA provisional time. Gaynor swam leadoff leg for the winning 200-yard freestyle relay team which set a school and meet record in a time of 1:23.39. He also anchored the victorious 400-yard freestyle relay team which clocked in at a time of 3:04.75. He swam as part of top-four finishes in the 800-yard freestyle relay (7:03.53) and 400-yard medley relay (3:29.86). All six of the times Gaynor was part of are top times in the MAC.
