MAC Commonwealth Defensive Player of the Week
Shayna Landis (Messiah / Jr., D / Lancaster, Pa.) led the No. 1 Falcons to a 2-0 week, including a pair of shutouts, by way of a dominating defensive performance. Messiah opened the week with a 4-0 road win at NCAA Division II No. 1 and defending National Champion Shippensburg Raiders. In the win, Landis helped hold the Raiders’ leading scorers, Emily Barnard and Mary Spisak—who entered the contest with a combined 20 goals and five assists—to just three combined shots. Landis’ individual effort on both of them throughout the game was a difference-maker. The junior followed that by shutting down Arcadia in a 3-0 win. The Knights did not register a shot in the game.
