Morgan Birmelin (DeSales / Jr., G / Honesdale, Pa.) led the Bulldogs to a 3-0 record and was named the Morgan Stanley Tip-off Tournament MVP. Birmelin, who nearly recorded a triple-double twice in the opening week, averaged 9.7 points, 3.3 rebounds, 7.0 assists and 9.3 steals per game, while also shooting 54 percent from the field. The junior opened the season with 13 points on 6-of-10 shooting, nine assists and nine steals to flirt with a triple-double in an 86-49 win over Penn State-Lehigh Valley. Birmelin followed that with nine points, five rebounds, seven assists and 12 steals in an 85-45 win over Alvernia. The 12 steals broke a program single-game record that stood since the 1978-79 season. In 79-40 title-game win over Lancaster Bible, she scored seven points with four rebounds, seven steals and five assists.
