MAC Track Athlete of the Week
Veronica Wheeler (DeSales / Sr. / Yardley, Pa.) opened the indoor track & field season with an impressive outing coming off an all-American performance in cross country. Wheeler finished the 5K at the Boston University Invitational with a time of 17:08.65 to shatter her own school-record time by nearly 30 seconds. She also shattered the overall MAC record set by Elizabethtown’s Traci Tempone (17:26.84) in 2011-12. Wheeler was the second NCAA Division III finisher among a majority of Division I runners. Her time was the third fastest time in the country at the conclusion of the race, and finished the weekend as the fourth fastest time in Division III thus far. Her time is also more than two minutes faster than the next best time in the MAC through the first week of the season.
