MAC Track Athlete of the Week
Will McDermott (Widener / Sr. / Lansdowne, Pa.) ran the second fastest 5,000-meter run time in Widener history on Saturday at the Boston University Valentine Invitational. His time of 14:20.98 placed him 12th overall, but he was the top Division II/III runner in the field dominated by Division I runners. McDermott’s time is two seconds shy of the Widener and MAC Overall record time of 14:18.40 set by Macharia Yuot in 2006. The senior’s time is the best in the MAC this season, eighth in Division III and second in the Mideast Region.
