MAC Freedom Player of the Week
Alexa Cieri (Wilkes / So. / Matawan, N.J.) made program history by becoming a dual-champion at the ITA Southeast Regionals. The sophomore went a perfect 8-0 to take home the E Singles title and the C Doubles championship. It was just the second time that a Colonel women's player won an ITA singles title and the first time a Wilkes duo has won an ITA doubles title as she teamed with Laura Zielinski. Cieri won two singles matches and two doubles matches on Saturday to advance to the semifinal rounds on Sunday. Cieri then advanced to the finals where she defeated Clarie Johnson of Haverford 6-3, 2-6, 10-6 for the E Singles title and along with Zielinski defeated Lauren Appel and Sarah Mueller of Randolph 8-3 to win the C Doubles title.
