MAC Commonwealth Defensive Player of the Week
Libby Wild (York / Jr., Defense / Severna Park, Md.) led the #9 Spartans to a pair of wins for the week as they knocked off Franklin & Marshall and Ithaca by identical 2-1 scores. In the win over the Diplomats, Wild led a defense that didn’t allow F&M a goal after they tied the game at one in the tenth minute of the game. Wild also had a huge defensive save with 8:30 left in regulation that kept the game tied at one. Against Ithaca, Wild proved to be a dangerous weapon on the penalty corners for York. She opened the scoring with her second goal of the year off an insert from Maycee Collison in the 11th minute of the game. She then won the game for the Green and White with another goal off a penalty corner with 4:14 left in the game. Wild also led a defense that held Ithaca to just six shots in the game. For the season, Wild has three goals on penalty corners for the Green and White. The Spartan defense has allowed just three goals in five games with two shutouts for the Spartans.
