MAC Commonwealth Defensive Player of the Week
Brooke Cordisco (York / Sr., D / Levittown, Pa.) led an impressive Spartan defensive performance as the Spartans went 2-0 for the week as the #8 Spartans improved their win streak to five. In Wednesday's road shut out of Eastern, Cordisco and the Spartan defense limited the Eagles to just one first quarter shot. While Cordisco and the defense were humming, the senior got in on the scoring act for the first time this year. She notched the game's first goal off a corner a mere 1:17 into the game. That kick started a three-goal first quarter spurt for the Spartans. Cordisco then capped the scoring on another penalty corner
goal in the 47th minute of the game. In Saturday's win over Widener, Cordisco spearheaded a defensive effort that did not allow Widener to even get into the Spartan defensive circle as they were held without a shot in the game. It's the second time during the five game win streak that the Spartans have held an opponent without a single shot attempt. For the season, the Spartan defense has limited opponents to a 0.53 goals per game average while opponents attempt an average of 5.5 shots per game.
