MAC Commonwealth Defensive Player of the Week
Dylan Marco (York / So., D / Quakertown, Pa.) powered the Spartans to a pair of positive results for the week as York went 1-0-1. The week began with a 1-1 tie at #4 Washington College on Wednesday. Marco spearheaded a Spartan defensive effort that held the Shoremen to nine shots in the game with just two of those chances being on goal. The Spartan defense allowed just one shot after the Shoremen got the game's first goal in the 64th minute. In Saturday's MAC Crossover win over Misericordia, the Spartans surrendered a first half goal but then locked down the Cougars, allowing the York offense to come back and win the game. The Marco-led defense allowed just six total shots with only three coming on goal. The Spartans conceded just one off-target shot in the second half as they were nearly flawless defensively in the second 45 minutes of play.For the week, the Spartans allowed just five shots on goal and 15 total shots in 180 minutes of play. For the season, the Spartans have allowed just three goals in 360 minutes of play. Marco leads the Spartan field players with 341 total minutes as he has been off the field for a mere 19 minutes for the entire season.
