MAC Commonwealth Golfer of the Week
Shawn Williams (Alvernia / Jr. / Huntington Beach, Calif.) led Alvernia to a team win at its home invitational on Tuesday while also grabbing low-medalist honors. Williams shot an even 72 and took low medalist on a match of cards on the back nine. Williams started his day on the seventh hole and went par, birdie and then holed out from just over 100 yards out for an eagle two at nine. Williams started his back nine with back to back pars but then carded a bogey at the 12th. Williams posted another par at 13 before carding a birdie and two eagles in his final five holes to post a one under 35 on the back nine. Williams then went to number one and carded three straight pars but two bogeys and a double to end his round saw him post a 37 on the front nine and finish with an even par 72 on the day.
