MAC Commonwealth Player of the Week
Alex Neeld (York / Jr., DH / Abington, Pa.) helped lead the Spartans to a great start in MAC Commonwealth play with a sweep of Albright this weekend. Neeld began his week against defending national champion Misericordia. He came off the bench and blasted his first career home run as a Spartan. He got the start in the conference opener against Albright as he was 2-for-3 with three runs scored and a career-high four RBI as he blasted two home runs and drew a walk. He got the Spartans on the board in the bottom of the first with a two-run bomb to left. He then hit a solo blast to lead off a five-run third inning. Neeld also had a sacrifice fly in the win. In Saturday's game one, Neeld was 2-for-3 with two runs and three RBI as he drilled two more home runs in the 7-3 win over the Lions. Neeld hit a two-run homer in the third to put York up 4-0. He hit a solo homer in the fifth for the 5-1 Spartan lead. He also drew a walk in the win. In the final game of the series, Neeld was 1-for-3 with two runs scored, an RBI, a home run, and two walks. He finished the week hitting .545 (6-for-11) with eight runs scored, six home runs, and nine RBI. He also drew four walks as he had a .625 on-base percentage and a 2.182 slugging percentage.
