A three-letter winner in both field hockey and track & field, Denise Shotwell was the premier athlete at Dickinson College in the late 1980’s. She was her team MVP in 1987 and 1989 as well as MAC MVP (1987-1989). Today she still holds records in the 55 meter dash (7.28 seconds) and long jump (17’5.75”) indoors and the 100 meter dash (11.95 s), 200 meter dash (23.85 s), and long jump (19’1.5”) outdoors. Shotwell also went on to qualify for the NCAA meet from 1987-1989 in the 100 meter and 200 meter and also qualified for the long jump in 1989.
