Rebecca Martin was a standout four-sport athlete at Western Maryland. On the basketball court, she holds records for career scoring average (19.1 ppg), most points in a single game (39), was the first woman to score 1,000 points (1980), and finished with 1,299 points. Martin was named team MVP as well as MAC South division MVP. On the volleyball court, she led the Green Terror to three MAC Championships in 1977, 1978 and 1979. As a graduate student in 1981, she was the MAC high jump Champion. Martin was one of three students to start the intercollegiate softball team at Western Maryland. She began coaching women’s basketball in 1981 and is currently in her 31st season.
