Tom Gilburg, Franklin & Marshall College
Football Coach – 1975-83
Coach Gilburg is the winningest coach in the 124 years of Franklin and Marshall’s football program, coaching 28 seasons reaching a 160-112-2 record, including an undefeated conference record in 1987. He led the Diplomats to a MAC championship in his second year coaching at F&M in 1976, and four post-season bowl game appearances. In 2005, Coach Gilburg was honored by being inducted into the Susquehanna Valley Chapter of the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame. He believed that “if you want success, you have to work hard for it,” and made sure that his athletes worked as hard in the classroom as they did on the gridiron. During his career he coached six CoSIDA Academic All-Americans, 14 Academic All-District II athletes, three NCAA Post-Graduate Scholars, eight First Team All-Americans, and 11 conference MVP’s.
