ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown College senior center Mike Church has been named second-team All-Middle Atlantic Region by the National Association of Basketball Coaches, as voted upon by member coaches of the NABC.
A two-time first-team All-Commonwealth Conference selection, Church led Elizabethtown in scoring average (15.3 points per game), rebounding average (8.9 per game) and blocked shots (51). He finished the season ranked ninth in the conference in scoring, third in rebounding and second in blocks while also ranking sixth in field-goal percentage at 51.5 percent (137-for-266). Church finished with nine double-doubles and scored 20 or more points in a game four times.
On Feb. 13 at Widener University, Church became the 30th player in program history to reach the 1,000-point milestone. He finished his career ranked 29th on the career scoring list with 1,068 points while adding 581 rebounds, 141 assists, 140 blocked shots and 134 steals in 94 career games.
Darnell Braswell of DeSales University was the regional Player of the Year, and was joined on the first team by James McNally of Franklin & Marshall College, Nick Brady of York College, Kevin Misevicius of Cabrini College, Zach Ashworth of the University of Scranton and Zac Shaeffer of Albright College.
Joining Church on the second team were Remy Cousart of Ursinus College, Camontae Griffin and Alex Franz of St. Mary's College of Maryland and Andrew Powers of Gettysburg College. St. Mary's coach Chris Harney was honored as Coach of the Year.
