Commonwealth, Freedom Conference Field Hockey Tournament Fields Set

ANNVILLE, Pa. (Field Hockey) –
The 2014 Commonwealth Conference and Freedom Conference Field Hockey Tournament fields have been solidified with the conclusion of conference play on Tuesday evening. The Arcadia Knights earned the top seed in the Commonwealth Tournament, while the Fairleigh Dickinson-Florham Devils earned the top spot in the Freedom Tournament. Semifinal action will get underway on Wednesday, Nov. 5.

Arcadia (13-5, 6-1 Commonwealth) will host fourth-seeded Messiah (11-6, 5-2 Commonwealth) at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 5. The Knights defeated the Falcons on Oct. 18 by a score of 1-0. Arcadia is currently on a seven-game winning streak with one game left to play in the regular season. Messiah has won three-straight games since its loss to the Knights, and it also has one regular-season game left.

Alvernia (11-7, 5-2 Commonwealth) earned the No. 2 seed in the Commonwealth Tournament and will host third-seeded Lebanon Valley (14-3, 5-2 Commonwealth) at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 5. The Crusaders upset the Dutchmen on Oct. 25 by a score of 4-0 in Annville. Alvernia has five shutouts so far this season with one regular-season game to play. It was also the first time Lebanon Valley was shutout all season.

The Commonwealth semifinal-round winners will advance to the championship game on Saturday, Nov. 8. The highest seed remaining will host the title game.

Fairleigh Dickinson-Florham (12-6, 6-1 Freedom) will host fourth-seeded Wilkes (8-8, 4-2 Freedom) at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 5. The Devils and Lady Colonels went to overtime in their regular-season game on Oct. 3. Fairleigh Dickinson-Florham held on to win the game by a score of 6-5. The Devils are currently on a six-game winning streak with one regular-season game to play. Wilkes has put together four-straight wins with one conference match left to play against Delaware Valley on Thursday.

Misericordia (11-7, 5-2 Freedom) earned the No. 2 seed in the Freedom Tournament and will host third-seeded DeSales (11-7, 5-2 Freedom) at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 5. The Cougars defeated the Bulldogs back on Oct. 28 in Dallas, Pa., by a score of 4-1. Misericordia has won eight of its last 10 games. DeSales won two of its last three games to clinch their spot in the tournament.

The Freedom semifinal-round winners will advance to the championship game on Saturday, Nov. 8. The highest seed remaining will host the title game.

Admission to the games is set for $5 for adults, $4 for seniors, $2 for students and children under six-years-old are free. Long-sleeved championship t-shirts will also be on sale at the gate for $15.
