Misericordia Locks Up Regular-Season Title, No. 1 Seed in MAC Freedom Championship
The Cougars finished the regular-season conference schedule with a 7-0 record (21 points)
ANNVILLE, Pa. (Women’s Soccer) – The Misericordia Cougars finished the Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) schedule undefeated to capture the regular-season crown, and in doing so the Cougars earned the No. 1 seed in the upcoming MAC Freedom Women’s Soccer Championship.
Joining the Cougars at this year’s conference tournament are No. 2 Wilkes, No. 3 DeSales and No. 4 FDU-Florham.
The MAC Freedom Championship opens play in the semifinal round on Wednesday, Oct. 31. Top-seeded Misericordia will host fourth-seeded FDU-Florham at 7 p.m., and second-seeded Wilkes will welcome third-seeded DeSales for a 7 p.m. start.
The winners of the semifinal round games will play for the MAC Freedom title and the conference’s NCAA Division III Championship automatic qualifier (AQ) on Saturday, Nov. 3 at the highest remaining seed. The game time will be set once the host is determined.
Misericordia and FDU-Florham met on Oct. 20 in Dallas, where the Cougars recorded a 4-1 victory.
Wilkes and DeSales met on Oct. 6 in Wilkes-Barre, where the Colonels came away with a 2-1 victory.
