ANNVILLE, Pa. (Conference News) – The Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) has announced its conference weekly award recipients for the week ending Feb. 16, 2020. A total of 32 student-athletes were recognized for performances from Feb. 10-16, 2020.
MEN’S BASKETBALL (#MAChoops)
MAC Commonwealth Offensive Player of the Week
Collin Jones (Lebanon Valley / Fr., F / Lock Haven, Pa.) guided Lebanon Valley to a 1-1 week averaging 26.5 points, 13 rebounds and 70 percent from the field (21-for-30). In a 79-70 setback at Hood, the freshman poured in a career-high 29 points on 11-of-16 shooting, to go along with 12 rebounds. Then, in a 74-60 victory over Stevenson that kept the Dutchmen in the playoff hunt, Jones led LVC with 24 points, including 18 in the first half, and he added 14 boards for another double-double.
MAC Commonwealth Defensive Player of the Week
Sidney Brown (Albright / Jr., G / Sicklerville, N.J.) spearheaded an Albright defensive effort that led to a pair of wins over the top two teams in the MAC Commonwealth standings entering the week. He posted five total steals during the week, and averaged 5.0 rebounds per game. Against Widener, Brown posted three steals and grabbed six rebounds in the Lions 74-71 win. He followed that with two more steals in the Lions 75-57 win over Lycoming on Saturday. Brown helped the Lions force 20 Lycoming turnovers. On offense, Brown averaged 10.5 points per game.
MAC Freedom Offensive Player of the Week
Rob Pecorelli (Wilkes / Sr., G / Huntington, N.Y.) earns his second conference weekly award of the season. Pecorelli led Wilkes with 23 points against both Misericordia and King's this week. The senior scored his 23 points during a 79-63 victory over the Cougars on 8-of-10 shooting including 3-for-4 from three-point range. He added seven rebounds and three assists. Against King's, Pecorelli scored 23 points on 7-for-12 shooting while also recording seven rebounds and seven assists. He finished the week averaging 23 points, seven rebounds and five assists while shooting .682 from the field.
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL (#MAChoops)
MAC Commonwealth Offensive Player of the Week
Emily Mealey (Lebanon Valley / Jr., F / Pottsville, Pa.) recorded her 17th and 18th double-doubles on the season as LVC went 1-1 on the week. She started her week with a career-high tying 32 points (12-for-20) to go with 12 rebounds at Hood. Mealey followed that up with 18 points (6-for-12) and 11 boards in a win over Stevenson on Saturday.
MAC Commonwealth Defensive Player of the Week
Dejah Terrell (Albright / So., F / Reading, Pa.) earns her seventh conference weekly award of the season. Terrell totaled seven blocks, four steals, and 24 defensive rebounds as the Lions split two games last week. The sophomore broke Albright's single-season program record in blocks with 72 so far this season. The sophomore also averaged 20 points and 16 rebounds during the week, with 24 points/13 rebounds against Widener and 16 points/11 rebounds against Lycoming.
MAC Freedom Offensive Player of the Week
Rylie Rittenhouse (DeSales / So., F / McVeytown, Pa.) averaged 15.5 points and 8.0 rebounds per game leading DeSales to a 2-0 record to earn sole possession of first place in the MAC Freedom. Rittenhouse had 17 points and nine rebounds in the win over Stevens on Wednesday and finished the week with 14 points and seven rebounds in the win at Misericordia.
MAC Freedom Defensive Player of the Week
Jennah Roman (FDU-Florham / Sr., G / Manchester, Conn.) helped lead the Devils to a 2-0 week defeating Eastern and Delaware Valley. She led a defensive that gave up only an average of 54 points per game. In the two contests combined, she recorded 3 steals, 9 rebounds, 8 on the defensive glass and drew 4 charges. In the 23 games FDU has played, Roman has recorded a steal in 22 of them and leaders her team in steals with 47.
BASEBALL (#MACbaseball)
MAC Commonwealth Player of the Week
Ryan Smolen (Arcadia / Fr., OF / Danville, Calif.) led the Knights to a season-opening 2-1 weekend while batting .545 (6-for-11) and slugging .727 with two doubles and one walk. Smolen recorded six hits with one RBI and two runs scored. The freshman had two hits in each of his first three contests. Arcadia defeated Methodist (4-3) and DeSales (6-0).
MAC Commonwealth Pitcher of the Week
Mitch Blake (Arcadia / Sr., P / Brownsdale, Pa.) earned the save in a 4-3 win over Methodist in the season-opener. In three innings pitched, Blake struck out six batters while allowing no hits and no runs.
MAC Freedom Player of the Week
Gannon Kenney-McGowan (Stevens / Jr., 1B-OF / Plainview, N.Y.) started his 2020 season with a bang, going 3-for-4 with a double, a homer and five RBIs in a doubleheader against Rutgers-Newark. Coming in as a pinch hitter in the first game, Kenney-McGowan roped a single into left field to score a pair of runs which tied the contest. Then in the second game, the junior started the contest with a two-run home run, the second of his career, and also added a double down the left field line.
MAC Freedom Pitcher of the Week
John Poccia (DeSales / Sr., P / Monmouth Beach, N.J.) had a terrific 2020 debut pitching eight strong innings, allowing eight hits and three runs, striking out five to earn the win in the 6-3 win over Methodist University.
SOFTBALL (#MACsb)
MAC Commonwealth Player of the Week
McKenzie Tebbs (Messiah / Sr., C-OF / Williamsport, Pa.) went 4-for-7 with two RBI, two runs, and a double in Messiah’s season-opening doubleheader with Methodist. Tebbs started the season with a 3-3 effort in the first game with an RBI and a run, while also roping a double against Methodist.
MAC Commonwealth Pitcher of the Week
Madison Walter (Messiah / So., P / Manheim, Pa.) went the distance in the season-opener, tossing 7.2 innings in a 4-3 setback for the Falcons against Methodist. Walter allowed eight hits and four runs (three earned) while striking out eight and walking none.
MEN’S ICE HOCKEY (#MAChky)
MAC Offensive Player of the Week
Tyson Araujo (Wilkes / Jr., F / Oak Bluffs, Mass.) had a seven-point week against a pair of UCHC foes competing for playoff spots. He earned a hat trick, one of which was on the power-play, alongside a pair of assists in a 6-2 home tilt against Neumann. The junior then followed up that performance with a pair of goals, including a critical third-period goal to prevent the Valiants from overtaking the Colonels in regulation, at Manhattanville in a 6-5 overtime victory.
MAC Defensive Player of the Week
Charlie Spetz (Wilkes / Jr., D / Oak Ridge, N.J.) had eight blocked shots in a critical pair of games at home against Neumann and on the road against Manhattaville. He had six to tie his season high in a 6-2 victory against the Knights, and added another pair of blocked shots against the Valiants in a tense 6-5 overtime victory.

MAC Offensive Player of the Week
Karly Aguirre (Stevenson / Fr., F / Waltham, Mass.) finished with four points in a 2-0 weekend for the Mustangs. The rookie recorded a goal and an assist in both wins over Lebanon Valley and Chatham. She totaled seven shots and a plus-4 rating. Aguirre has a point in six of her last eight games. Stevenson clinched the MAC title with its win over LVC.
MAC Defensive Player of the Week
Ally Joly (Wilkes / So., G / Lincoln, R.I.) earns her second conference weekly award of the season. Joly had a standout week between the pipes for the Colonels as she stopped 109-of-115 shots faced for a .948 save percentage. The sophomore recorded a career-high 68 saves at William Smith on Friday. She stopped 29 shots alone in the second period. On Saturday Joly kept Wilkes in the game at Utica with 41 saves.

MAC Commonwealth Offensive Player of the Week
Clo Muscara (Arcadia / Sr., A / Freehold, Pa.) led the Knights to a season-opening 21-2 win over Saint Vincent with eight goals and one assist.
MAC Commonwealth Defensive Player of the Week
Carter Landry (Widener / Jr., GK / Gorham, Maine) was strong in cage during the opening game of the season for the Pride, a 16-4 win against Gwynedd Mercy. He stopped 75 percent of the shots on goal he faced, making nine saves while only allowing three to get by in 56+ minutes of action. He also scooped a ground ball on the day.
MAC Freedom Offensive Player of the Week
Connor Murphy (Stevens / Sr., M / West Hartford, Conn.) had a career day in the faceoff circle for the 18th-ranked Ducks in the team's 9-4 season-opening win over Swarthmore. Murphy won a career-best 13 times in the 'X' out of 15 total faceoffs, while picking up four ground balls.
MAC Freedom Defensive Player of the Week
Daniel Crotty (Stevens / Gr, D / Charlotte, N.C.) returned to the field for the first time since 2018 and anchored a defensive unit that only allowed four goals in No. 18 Stevens' 9-4 season-opening win over Swarthmore. The Charlotte, North Carolina native matched a career-high with seven ground balls, while causing two turnovers.

Domenica Lerch (Wilkes / So., M / Northampton, Pa.) led all seven Wilkes' scorers with six points on three goals and three assists in a 15-0 season opening victory at Bryn Athyn.
MAC Freedom Defensive Player of the Week
Sarah Carlini (Wilkes / Sr., GK / Collegeville, Pa.) earned a shutout in 30 minutes of play at Bryn Athyn. She had two saves in the 15-0 victory against the Lions.

MAC Swimmer of the Week
TJ Dalton (Arcadia / Sr. / East Stroudsburg, Pa.) earns his fourth conference weekly award of the season. Dalton was named the 2020 David B. Eavenson MAC Men’s Swimmer of the Year on Sunday after earning 96 points, three individual gold medals, an NCAA Division III ‘B’ cut and two conference and championship records at the MAC Championship. Dalton won the 200-yard IM with a time of 1:54.09, the 400-yard IM with a new record time of 4:02.89 and the 200-yard Breaststroke with an NCAA B cut and record time of 2:02.92.
WOMEN’S SWIMMING (#MACswim)
MAC Swimmer of the Week
Isabella Fairman (Stevens / Sr. / St. Paul, Minn.) earns her second conference weekly award of the season. Fairman was named the 2020 David B. Eavenson MAC Women’s Swimmer of the Year on Sunday after earning 96 points, three individual gold medals and two MAC records. The senior won the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:02.81, the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:52.29 and the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 52.62.
MEN’S INDOOR TRACK & FIELD (#MACtf)
MAC Track Athlete of the Week
Patrick Watson (Stevenson / Sr. / Edgewater, Md.) earns his third conference weekly award of the season. Watson posted a program and MAC-record time of 8:13.57 (OR: 8:17.97 in 2017) in the 3,000 meter run at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational at Boston University Saturday. His converted time of 8:19.30 is the fifth-fastest time in Division III in the 3K this season.
MAC Field Athlete of the Week
Justin Le Cadre (King’s / So. / Scranton, Pa.) earns his second conference weekly award of the season. Le Cadre had a pair of career best marks including a school record while finishing second in both the shot put and the weight throw at the SU Invitational on Saturday. In the shot put he topped his school record with a toss of 15.07 meters (49'5.5"). His mark is the best in the conference this season and second in the region. The sophomore then recorded a career best weight throw mark of 16.74 meters (54'11.25"). His weight throw mark is second in the conference, third in the region, and 40th in the nation.
WOMEN’S INDOOR TRACK & FIELD (#MACtf)
MAC Track Athlete of the Week
Leanne Weaver (Messiah / Sr. / Boiling Springs, Pa.) earns her second conference weekly award of the season. Weaver lowered her program record time in the mile to 4:57.89 at the Fasttrack National Invitational hosted by the Ocean Breeze Complex on Saturday. The time is three seconds off the MAC record and is ranked 10
th in the nation. Weaver finished second in the event and also competed on Messiah's 4x400 Relay team that finished with an unofficial time of 3:54.0. The relay time is one second off the MAC record.
MAC Field Athlete of the Week
Nicole Weenink (Eastern / Sr. / Mechanicsburg, Pa.) earns her third-straight conference weekly award of the season. Weenink won the Long Jump at the SU Invitational at Susquehanna. Her 5.53 meter jump is the top jump in the MAC this year and put her into a tie for No. 18 on the National Qualifying list. She also set an indoor personal-best of 26.66 seconds on her way to winning the 200 Meters at the meet. That time is third in the MAC this year.
MEN’S VOLLEYBALL (#MACvb)
MAC Offensive Player of the Week
David Lehman (Stevens / Sr., Opp. / Oakland, Calif.) helped lead Stevens to a perfect 3-0 record on the week, including wins over No. 2 Vassar and Elms College. In the win over Vassar, Lehman finished with a game-high 18 kills and a .361 attack percentage while also adding nine digs. He followed it up with an 11-kill, four-dig performance in the victory over Elms. In total, Lehman hit .305 with 29 total kills on the weekend.
MAC Defensive Player of the Week
Sam Capwell (King’s / Fr., MH / Bethlehem, Pa.) led at the net, totaling 22 blocks (1.29 bps), 38 kills (2.23 kps), and 11 digs (0.65 dps) for a total of 54 points (3.18 pps). In a 3-0 loss to No. 5 Stevens, Capwell totaled four kills and a block. Then in a 3-0 win at Rosemont, he totaled six kills and a block, and in a 3-0 loss to Elizabethtown added seven kills, four blocks, and a dig. In a home tri-match, the middle hitter helped lead the Monarchs to a 3-0 win over Yeshiva with 11 kills, a season-high nine blocks, and five digs, before totaling 10 kills, seven blocks, and five digs in a 3-2 loss to CCNY.
WRESTLING (#MACwrestle)
MAC Wrestler of the Week
Garret Cornell (Messiah / Fr., 141 lbs. / Everett, Pa.) earns his second conference weekly award of the season. Cornell earned a pair of victories in duals for the Falcons, picking up a pin against Elizabethtown's Colton Rex in 3:39 to help Messiah to a 35-12 victory. Then on Saturday against No. 6 TCNJ, Cornell earned the dual-clinching victory over Robert Dinger with a 14-6 major decision. The Falcons trailed 18-17 before Cornell stepped up and claimed the major decision to win the match for the Falcons, 21-18.
