ANNVILLE, Pa. (Conference News) – The Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) has announced its conference weekly award recipients for the week ending March 7, 2021. A total of 26 student-athletes were recognized for performances from March 1-7, 2021.
(The conference golf, swimming and tennis weekly award recipients will be announced on Tuesday mornings this semester.)
MEN’S BASKETBALL (#MAChoops)
MAC Commonwealth Player of the Week
Keon Taylor (Alvernia / Sr., G / Chester, Pa.) averaged 21.5 points and four rebounds to lead Alvernia to a 1-1 week against Lebanon Valley. On Thursday, Taylor scored 17 points, and added five rebounds, three assists, a block and a steal. The next night, in an 87-81 win over the Dutchmen, Taylor set a new 3-point shooting percentage record after going a perfect 6-for-6 from beyond the arc. Taylor finished the night with 26 points, four assists, and three rebounds. The senior finished the week shooting 55% from the field and 78% from long range.
MAC Freedom Player of the Week
Timmy Edwards (DeSales / Sr., F / Shiremanstown, Pa.) repeats as conference player of the week for his second of the season. Edwards averaged 23 points and seven rebounds to lead DeSales to a sweep of Eastern. The senior started with 16 points and eight boards in the home win over the Eagles. Edwards then scored 30 points on 14-for-23 shooting while adding six rebounds, and five assists in the road win. He shot 62% (21-for-34) from the floor for the week.
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL (#MAChoops)
MAC Commonwealth Player of the Week
Olivia Coleman (Stevenson / Sr., F / Williamsport, Md.) averaged 18.5 points and 10.0 rebounds per game while shooting 58% in a 1-1 week. Coleman recorded 17 points and 12 rebounds in a two-point setback at Albright on Thursday. The senior then went 8-for-13 from the floor to score 20 points with eight boards in a 65-53 triumph over the Lions on Friday.
MAC Freedom Player of the Week
Emily Kutskel (Delaware Valley / Jr., F / Ebensburg, Pa.) led the Aggies to two wins over Wilkes by averaging 20.5 points, 9.5 rebounds and four blocks per game. At home on Thursday, Kutskel recorded a near-triple double with 12 points, 10 rebounds, and tied a career-high with 8 blocked shots in a 59-42 win. On Friday in a 57-47 win, the junior scored career-high 29 points to go with nine boards, two steals and an assist.

MAC Offensive Player of the Week
Tyler Barrow (Wilkes / Jr., F /Massapequa, N.Y.) earns his second conference weekly award of the season. Barrow recorded a hat trick mid-way through the second period of a 6-3 win over Nazareth on Friday. The junior then scored a goal and added an assist the next night in an 8-2 win over Nazareth. He finished the weekend with 16 shots.
MAC Defensive Player of the Week
Michael Paterson-Jones (Wilkes / So., G / Baldwinsville, N.Y.) allowed only two goals at even strength while manning the net in a 2-0 week for the Colonels. In a 6-3 road victory against Nazareth, Paterson-Jones recorded 29 saves with a .906 save percentage. In his second victory, an 8-2 affair where he allowed no even-strength goals, he recorded 30 saves and a .937 save percentage.
WOMEN’S ICE HOCKEY (#MAChky)
MAC Offensive Player of the Week
Trinity Barcless (Stevenson / Sr., F / Trenton, N.J.) totaled six point on five goals and one assist in a weekend sweep over Lebanon Valley. In the Mustangs 7-1 victory, Barcless netted her second career hat trick while also dishing out an assist. On the road, Barcless scored the game-tying goal with 2:21 remaining before netting the overtime winner, shorthanded, with 2:24 remaining. Barcless totaled 11 shots and a plus-six rating.
MAC Defensive Player of the Week
Shelby Guinard (Lebanon Valley / So., G / Lunenburg, Mass.) recorded 10 saves in relief against Stevenson on Friday before stopping 42 shots in a 3-2 OT loss on Saturday against the Mustangs. For the week, Guinard stopped 52 of the 56 shots she faced.
MEN’S VOLLEYBALL (#MACvb)
MAC Offensive Player of the Week
Quinn Baily (Arcadia / Sr., OH / Annandale, Va.) led the Knights to a pair of 3-1 wins over Eastern on Saturday. Baily finished the week with 29 kills (4.14 kps) while hitting .436. The senior also recorded nine services aces, seven digs and three blocks. In the second match of the day, Baily hit .632 with 13 kills and eight service aces.
MAC Defensive Player of the Week
Owen Hanzelman (Messiah / Fy., L / Lancaster, Pa.) helped the Falcons to their second-straight 3-0 week from the libero position as the Falcons moved to 6-0 on the season. Hanzelman collected at least 10 digs in all three matches as Messiah swept Misericordia and defeated Widener 3-1. Hanzelman averaged 3.7 digs/set during the 10 sets this week.
BASEBALL (#MACbaseball)
MAC Commonwealth Player of the Week
Amani Jones (Stevenson / Fy., 2B / Lebanon, Pa.) batted .857 (6-for-7) with two walks for a .889 on-base percentage and 1.714 slugging percentage in a doubleheader sweep of Eastern. Jones scored five runs and drove in three more runs. He went 3-for-4 with a home run and three runs scored in the 15-0 win in the opener. The second baseman then went 3-for-3 with a walk in the nightcap, finishing a home run shy of the cycle.
MAC Commonwealth Pitcher of the Week
Shane Ostrowsky (Alvernia / Fy., P / Levittown, Pa.) picked up Alvernia’s first win of the season with a scoreless five-inning performance. Ostrowsky gave up just one hit and struck out three in the 4-1 victory over Hood.
MAC Freedom Player of the Week
Brett Mendez (Stevens / Jr., 2B / Livingston, N.J.) was an on-base machine for Stevens in the doubleheader sweep of King's to open the season. The junior reached base in six of his seven plate appearances on the day. In the opening contest, Mendez went 1-for-1 with two walks and a run scored. He followed it up by going 1-for-2 with two more walks, a double and a run scored in game two.
MAC Freedom Pitcher of the Week
Leo Bristow (Stevens / So., P / Sherman Oaks, Calif.) dazzled on the mound in his season debut, earning the win on the hill after tossing five scoreless innings for the Ducks. Bristow allowed just four hits, three walks and struck out a career-high 11 batters over 5.0 innings in the 6-0 win.
SOFTBALL (#MACsb)
MAC Commonwealth Player of the Week
Maddie Bosley (Stevenson / Fy., LF / Bel Air, Md.) batted .600 (6-for-10) with four RBIs, two runs scored, a triple and a walk in a 3-1 series win over Hood. Bosley went 3-for-5 with three RBIs, a triple and a walk in Sunday’s doubleheader against the Blazers.
MAC Commonwealth Pitcher of the Week
Morghan Fulton (Stevenson / Gr., P / Bel Air, Md.) tossed a three-hit 4-0 shutout win over Hood on Saturday. Fulton struck out seven batters and walked just one batter.
MAC Freedom Player of the Week
Megan Torrey (Delaware Valley / Fy., C / Milford, N.J.) led the Aggies to a 1-1 split with Widener to open the season. Torrey finished the series going 2-for-6 while slugging 1.000 with a home run and a double. She finished Sunday with one RBI and two runs scored.
MAC Freedom Pitcher of the Week
Olivia Monismith (Delaware Valley / So., P / Newville, Pa.) pitched a complete-game to earn the 7-5 win over Widener on Sunday. Monismith allowed just three earned runs while striking out six batters and walking just one batter.

MAC Commonwealth Offensive Player of the Week
Jake Bollinger (Lebanon Valley / Fy., Att. / Glen Rock, Pa.) had an impressive collegiate debut scoring seven goals and dishing out two assists to lead the Dutchmen to a 13-7 win on the road at King’s. The first-year player also added four ground balls and a caused turnover.
MAC Commonwealth Defensive Player of the Week
Marc Poust (Stevenson / Sr., G / Horsham, Pa.) led the No. 20 Mustangs to a 13-8 win over No. 18 Stevens on the road. The senior entered the game to start the second quarter with Stevenson trailing the Ducks by a score of 5-1. Poust made nine saves, including six in the fourth quarter, while facing 23 shots (12 on goal).
MAC Freedom Offensive Player of the Week
Zach Bowen (DeSales / Sr., Att. / Middletown, Del.) helped DeSales open the season with a 25-10 win over Albright by scoring a game-high seven goals and adding an assist for eight points. The seven goals, which are the second most in a game in team history, helped the Bulldogs break the team record for goals in a game (25).
MAC Freedom Defensive Player of the Week
Timmy Fyock (Arcadia / Jr., G / Ridgewood, N.J.) led the Knights to a season-opening 13-6 win over Hood while making 21 saves on 37 shots faced. Fyock only allowed five even-strength goals and picked up five ground balls in the win. The junior allowed just one goal against in the second half of play.

MAC Commonwealth Offensive Player of the Week
Rachel Delate (Messiah / So., Att. / Glen Mills, Pa.) was a part of half the Falcons scoring in an 18-1 season-opening win over Lycoming. Delate scored six goals on eight shots and added three assists. The sophomore also tallied five draw controls, five ground balls and caused two turnovers for a complete performance.
MAC Commonwealth Defensive Player of the Week
Sophie Shucosky (Stevenson / Jr., G / Lutherville, Md.) made her career debut with the Mustangs in a 12-4 win over Stevens. Shucosky totaled eight saves on 20 shots faced. The junior made five saves on six shots in the second half.
MAC Freedom Offensive Player of the Week
Lauren Weitzel (Misericordia / Sr., Mid. / Hampstead, Md.) recorded five goals and one assists to lead the Cougars to a season-opening 23-0 win over Eastern. Weitzel also recorded eight draw controls, seven ground balls and five caused turnovers.
MAC Freedom Defensive Player of the Week
Rachel Sheubrooks (DeSales / Sr/, G / Halethorpe, Md.) was impressive in a four-goal setback to Albright on Saturday. Sheubrooks made 20 saves, including 11 in the second half to keep the Bulldogs in striking distance. Her 20 saves broke the program’s single-game record of 17.
