ANNVILLE, Pa. (Conference News) – The Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) has announced its conference weekly award recipients for golf, swimming and tennis for the week ending April 5, 2021. A total of nine student-athletes were recognized for performances from March 30 – April 5, 2021.
GOLF (#MACgolf)
MAC Commonwealth Men’s Golfer of the Week
Nick Fioravante (York / So. / Mohnton, Pa.) repeats as conference golfer of the week for his second of the season. Fioravante won the Knights Invitational at the Cedarbrook Country Club on Monday with a round of 71 to lead York to the team title (298).
MAC Freedom Men’s Golfer of the Week
Andrew Finke (Wilkes / So. / West Milford, N.J.) shot an even-par 72 to tie for the low round in a dual match with Scranton at the Huntsville Golf Club.
MAC Women’s Golfer of the Week
Natalie Robson (York / So. / Bradenton, Fla.) led the Spartans for the second-straight event as she captured her first-career individual title. Robson shot a six-over-par 78 to edge out Alvernia's McKylie Boreman by one stroke. The sophomore posted York's lowest score on the front nine with a 37 as she birdied the par-three fifth hole and shot par on six other holes. Robson shot 41 on the back, paring five of the holes.
SWIMMING (#MACswim)
MAC Men’s Swimmer of the Week
Hazen Stowell (Hood / So. / West Jordan, Utah) won both the 500- and 1,000-yard freestyle relay events to help the Blazers to a 94-73 team win over Lycoming. Stowell won the 500 freestyle in a time of 5:06.47 and the 1,000 freestyle with a time of 10:32.83. Both wins came by margins of over 20 seconds.
MAC Women’s Swimmer of the Week
Elisa DiNicola (Lycoming / Fy. / Williamsport, Pa.) contributed to a winning relay while also picking up individual wins in the 200- and 500-yard freestyles to lead the Warriors to an 88-59 win over Hood. DiNicola swam the butterfly leg on the 200-yard medley relay team, starting the night with a time of 1:59.77. She posted a time of 6:07.04 to take the 500-yard freestyle and a time of 2:10.41 to win the 200-yard freestyle.
TENNIS (#MACtennis)
MAC Commonwealth Men’s Player of the Week
Andrew Bookman (Messiah / Sr. / Manheim, Pa.) earns his second conference weekly award of the season. Bookman led the Falcons to a 9-0 win over Lycoming. The senior won top-singles in straight sets by a scores of 6-3, 6-2 over Nate Redell.
MAC Freedom Men’s Player of the Week
Cole Gibson (Wilkes / Fy. / Pinecrest, Fla.) led the Colonels to a 9-0 victory over York (Pa.) with wins at No. 1 singles and No. 2 doubles. Gibson dropped just two games all day. He teamed with Colin Greenman to win doubles by a score of 8-0. Gibson then won top-singles by a score of 6-0, 6-2.
MAC Commonwealth Women’s Player of the Week
Rebekah Adams (Messiah / Sr. / Cinnaminson, N.J.) led the Falcons to a 5-4 win over Lycoming. Adams won No. 2 singles over Madi Heller by a score of 6-2, 6-1.
MAC Freedom Women’s Player of the Week
Kirsten Kosa (DeSales / Jr. / Dunkirk, Md.) led the Bulldogs to an 8-1 win over Stevenson with wins at No. 2 singles and No. 2 doubles. Kosa teamed with Bailey Greco to win doubles by a score of 8-1. The junior then won singles by a score of 6-1, 6-0 to drop just two games all day.
