Falcons Tabbed Favorite in MAC Commonwealth Women’s Soccer Coaches’ Preseason Poll

Messiah received 64 points and first-place votes from all eight opposing coaches

ANNVILLE, Pa. (Women’s Soccer) –
The Messiah Falcons were selected as the favorite in the 2021 conference preseason poll conducted among the Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth (MAC Commonwealth) women’s soccer coaches. The Falcons collected all eight first-place votes from opposing coaches for a total of 64 points.

The MAC Commonwealth looks a little different in 2021. Arcadia and Lycoming made the move back to the MAC Freedom, while Eastern shifted to the MAC Commonwealth. York College, new to the conference in 2020-21, makes its fall-season debut.

It has been two years since official conference soccer competition took place. In 2019, the Messiah Falcons captured their 17th conference title with a 3-0 victory over Arcadia before defeating William Smith, 1-0, for their sixth NCAA Division III National Championship. The Falcons ended the season with an impressive 22-1-3 record and the No. 1 national ranking.
 
The United Soccer Coaches announced its NCAA Division III Women’s Top-25 Preseason Poll earlier this month. Messiah was positioned where it left off in 2019 at No. 1.
 
The 2021 season is set to begin on Wednesday, Sept. 1. Conference play will begin on Saturday, Oct. 2 with an eight-game five-week schedule.
 
The 2021 MAC Commonwealth Women’s Soccer Championship is set for Nov. 2-6. The top-five seeds will battle for the conference title and the NCAA Division III Championship automatic qualifier (AQ).
