Alvernia Picked as Favorite MAC Commonwealth Men’s Basketball Coaches’ Preseason Poll

The Golden Wolves earned four of nine first-place votes for 58 points

ANNVILLE, Pa. (Men’s Basketball) –
The Alvernia Golden Wolves were selected as the favorite in the 2022-23 conference preseason poll conducted among the Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth (MAC Commonwealth) men’s basketball coaches. The Golden Wolves received four of the nine first-place votes for 58 points.

Hood claimed its first-ever MAC Commonwealth title in 2022 with a 75-71 win over Eastern in the conference championship game.
 
Both Hood and Eastern earned berths to the NCAA tournament. The Blazers fell to Oswego State, and Eastern fell to Rochester (N.Y.) in the first round.

Alvernia earned a berth to the ECAC Division III Championship, falling to William Paterson in the quarterfinal round.
 
The 2022-23 season is set to begin on Tuesday, Nov. 8. The double-round robin conference schedule will begin on Wednesday, Nov. 30.
 
The 2023 MAC Commonwealth Men’s Basketball Championship is set for Feb. 20-25. The top-five seeds will battle for the conference title and the NCAA Division III Championship automatic qualifier (AQ).
