15 student-athletes were recognized for performances from Dec. 5 - 11

ANNVILLE, Pa. (Conference News) – The Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) has announced its conference weekly award recipients for the week ending Dec. 11, 2022. A total of 15 student-athletes were recognized for performances from Dec. 5-11, 2022.
 
 
 
MEN'S BASKETBALL (#MAChoops)
MAC Commonwealth Player of the Week
Collin Jones (Lebanon Valley / Sr., F / Lock Haven, Pa.) led the Dutchmen to two comeback victories and a 2-0 week in conference play. The forward averaged 20.5 points and 11.0 rebounds in wins at York and over defending conference champion Hood. Jones had 17 points, six rebounds, and four assists in a 74-67 victory at York to begin the week. Jones then helped the Dutchmen to a 75-71 victory over Hood, recording 24 points and 16 rebounds.
 
MAC Freedom Player of the Week
Dyson Harward (Lycoming / Sr., C / Danville, Pa.) averaged 19 points and just over 12 rebounds en route to a two-win week for Lycoming. Harward scored 22 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in a victory over Marywood on Monday. The senior followed that performance with a 16-point, 14-rebound double-double in a 73-68 MAC Freedom win over Delaware Valley. Harward added six blocks, three assists and a pair of steals on the week.
 
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL (#MAChoops)
MAC Commonwealth Player of the Week
Riley Hevelow (Lebanon Valley / Fr., G / Newark, Del.) had a monster week to lead the Dutchmen to a pair of conference wins at York and over Hood, totaling 33 points and 10 rebounds. The guard started the week with 13 points, including the game-winning free throws with six seconds left in a 49-47 victory at York. Hevelow then had her best game of the year with her first career double-double and season-highs of 20 points and 10 rebounds to power the Dutchmen to a 55-49 comeback victory over Hood.
 
MAC Freedom Player of the Week
Haley Keenan (Delaware Valley / Jr., G / Bensalem, Pa.) averaged 18.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 5.5 steals, 3 assists and 1.5 blocks in two games to lead the Aggies to a pair of conference wins. On Wednesday at Arcadia, Keenan scored a game-high 17 points and added seven steals, four assists, four rebounds and a blocked shot with no turnovers. She followed that with another game-high of 20 points to go with nine rebounds, four steals, two assists and two blocked shots in a home win over Lycoming.
 
MEN'S ICE HOCKEY (#MAChky)
MAC Offensive Player of the Week
Matt Carlson (Wilkes / Fr., F / Delmar, N.Y.) propelled Wilkes to a weekend MAC sweep of Alvernia with his overtime winner on Sunday. The first year took the put the length of the ice to score the winner 50 seconds into overtime to provide the 4-3 victory. Carlson added an assist on the game first goal 6:59 into the first period. He also scored the game's first goal on Saturday on the power play during the Colonels 5-3 win. He finished the week with three points on two goal and an assist, eight shots on goal, and 16-for-29 at the faceoff dot.
 
MAC Defensive Player of the Week
Michael Paterson-Jones (Wilkes / Sr., GK / Baldwinsville, N.Y.) collects his second conference weekly award. Paterson-Jones earned a pair of MAC victories this weekend as he stopped 50-of-56 shots in the Colonels two wins over Alvernia. He stopped 29-of-32 shots in a 5-3 win Saturday and then made 21 saves on 24 shots during Sunday's 4-3 overtime win. Paterson-Jones finished with a .893 save percentage and 3.00 goals-against-average for the week.
 
 
WOMEN'S ICE HOCKEY (#MAChky)
MAC Offensive Player of the Week
Haylee Kos (Arcadia / Fr., F / Saskatoon, Saskatchewan) had three goals and an assist for four points in the Knights two victories over Anna Maria this weekend. Kos scored both of Arcadia's goals in the 2-0 win on Friday night and added a goal and an assist in the Knights' 5-3 win. Kos is now on a three-game goal scoring streak and is tied for the team lead in goals with four.
 
MAC Defensive Player of the Week
Hannah Bergeron (Arcadia / So., GK / Leominster, Mass.) picked up two wins in goal, had a .909 save percentage, a goals against average of 1.50 and a shutout for the Knights in their weekend sweep of Anna Maria. On Friday night, Bergeron picked up the shutout as she made 17 saves in Arcadia's 2-0 win. On Saturday she made 16 saves in Arcadia's 5-3 victory.
 
 
SWIMMING (#MACswim)
MAC Men's Swimmer of the Week
Eliot Keith's (Lycoming / Jr. / New Ringgold, Pa.) strong outing at Penn State Altoona was highlighted by a win in the 100-yard breaststroke with a season-best time of 1:03.22. Keith added second-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle with a personal-best time of 22.92. The junior also posted a personal-best time of 59.40 in the 100-yard individual medley and helped the 200-yard freestyle relay team to second-place finish with a time of 1:35.38.

MAC Women's Swimmer of the Week
Katherine Brown (Lycoming / Sr. / Glenside, Pa.) led the Warriors with three individual event wins and a relay win in dual meet at Penn State Altoona on Friday. Brown posted time of 25.75 in 50-yard freestyle and a season-best time of 31.33 in the 50-yard breaststroke. She added a 1:07.62 to win the 100-yard breaststroke and helped the 200-yard medley relay team (1:56.34) to a win with a 30.36 split in the breaststroke.
 
 
MEN'S INDOOR TRACK & FIELD (#MACtf)
MAC Men's Track Athlete of the Week
Zach Reed (Lebanon Valley / Sr. / Manheim, Pa.) had a great start to the indoor season with a first place and third place finish at the Diplomat Open. The senior won the 60-meter hurdles running the 20th-fastest time in the nation this year at 8.50 seconds. His time is the fastest in the MAC, fourth in the Mid-Atlantic Region, and eighth in AARTFC. He then ran a career-best time of 23.61 seconds in the 200 meters to finish third. His time is fifth in the MAC and 15th in the region.
 
MAC Men's Field Athlete of the Week
Trey Reynolds (Lebanon Valley / Jr. / Pine Grove, Pa.) won the weight throw and finished third in the shot put for LVC at the Diplomat Open this weekend. His toss of 15.01 meters (49'3") in the weight throw won the event by over a meter, is the second-best mark in the conference this year, and is fourth in the Mid-Atlantic Region. The junior then finished third in the shot put with a mark of 13.73 meters (45'0.5"). That mark is sixth in the MAC and seventh in the region.
 
 
WOMEN'S INDOOR TRACK & FIELD (#MACtf)
MAC Women's Track Athlete of the Week
Sonialys Badillo (Misericordia / Sr. / Vineland, N.J.) had a strong outing at the Susquehanna Early Season Invite on Saturday. Badillo won the 400-meter (1:01.1) with a top conference time, placed fourth in the 60-meter (8.08) with second-best conference time and helped the Cougar 4x400 relay team to a win. The relay team finished with its second-best time of the season at 4:20.43.
 
MAC Women's Field Athlete of the Week
Julia Pena (York / Sr. / Highlands Mills, N.Y.) opened the indoor season with a bang with a pair of first-place finishes in the pole vault and long jump, to go along with a second in the 60 hurdles and a fourth in the 60m dash at the Diplomat Open. The highlight of her day was placing first in the pole vault with a height of 3.81m which is an all-time PR and is the best height, indoors or outdoors, in program history. Even more notable, her height also ranks first in the nation this season.
 
WRESTLING (#MACwrestle)
MAC Wrestler of the Week
Wiley Kahler (Lycoming / Jr. / Pottsville, Pa.) Led Lycoming with a trio of pins in quad-meet at Lamade Gym. Kahler stuck Keystone's Michael Palinkas in 2:57, Oswego's Brett Rosenberg in 1:23 and Pitt-Bradford's Darren Christian Jr. in 2:02. The junior improved to 15-3 on the season with five pins.
