ANNVILLE, Pa. (Conference News) – The Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) has announced its conference weekly award recipients for the week ending Dec. 18, 2022. A total of five student-athletes were recognized for performances from Dec. 12-18, 2022.
MEN’S BASKETBALL (#MAChoops)
MAC Commonwealth Player of the Week
Nigel Cooke (Alvernia / Jr., G / Macungie, Pa.) led Alvernia to a 2-0 week in MAC Commonwealth play, averaging 15 points, 6.5 rebounds, four assists and two steals. In a 63-58 win over York on Wednesday, Cooke finished with 13 points, seven rebounds, five assists and a steal. In a win over rival Albright on Saturday, Cooke finished with 17 points, six rebounds, three assists, three steals and a block for Alvernia in the 79-70 win over the Lions.
MAC Freedom Player of the Week
Will Johnson (King’s / Jr., G / Wilkes-Barre, Pa.) scored a game-high 26 points on 9-for-15 shooting, including 5-for-8 from long-range, in a 104-99 win over Penn College. Johnson also recorded a double-double by adding 10 assists, three rebounds and two steals in the win.

MAC Commonwealth Player of the Week
Kate Fitzpatrick (Lebanon Valley / Jr., G / Middletown, Pa.) equaled her career-high with 26 points for LVC in a tough defeat to Moravian in the team's only game of the week. The junior also had eight rebounds and four assists to lead the Dutchmen in a game that was close until the Greyhounds used a big fourth quarter to pull away. Fitzpatrick made a season-high 10 shots including a season-high four three-pointers while also recording season-highs in rebounds and assists.
MAC Freedom Player of the Week
Scarlett Glasser-Nehls (Arcadia / Jr., G / Watchung, N.J.) had 20 points, five rebounds, an assist and a steal in the Knights' 65-47 victory over Rutgers-Camden. She was an efficient 7-for-9 from the field, including 4-of-6 from three-point range. She also knocked down both of her free-throw attempts.

MAC Wrestler of the Week
Matthew Lackman (Alvernia / Jr., 165 lbs. / Wernersville, Pa.) went 3-0 at the Gator Boot Duals in Nashville with a technical fall, fall and decision. He started his day with an 18-0 technical fall against Alma. He then defeated Luther's Braeden Hendel in a 6-0 decision. He capped off his day with a pin in 1:35 over Baldwin Wallace's Hunter Kupniewski.
