2023 All-MAC Commonwealth Men’s Soccer Team Announced

Widener and Messiah earn major awards

NEWTOWN, Pa. (Men’s Soccer) – The 2023 All-MAC Commonwealth Men’s Soccer Team has been announced.
 
Widener senior forward Sean Fatiga was named MAC Commonwealth Offensive Player of the Year, and Messiah senior defender Ben Vollmer was named MAC Commonwealth Defensive Player of the Year.

Fatiga led the conference in goals (17) and points (37). Fatiga claims his second career MAC Commonwealth Offensive Player of the Year. He previously won the award for the first time in 2021.

Vollmer headlined a Falcons defense that only gave up six total goals throughout the season. 
 
Messiah first year forward Sam Phillips was named MAC Commonwealth Rookie of the Year. Phillips started half of the games this season for top ranked Messiah. He contributed 11 goals on the season and added three assists. 
 
Messiah head coach Brad McCarty was named MAC Commonwealth Coach of the Year. McCarty claims his ninth coach of the year award. Coach McCarty has led the Falcons to a 19-0-1 record and will begin NCAA Tournament play this weekend against Baruch College. 
 
The All-MAC Commonwealth Men’s Soccer Team is nominated and voted on by the eight conference men’s soccer coaches.
