NEWTOWN, Pa. (Conference News) – The Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) has announced its conference weekly award recipients for the week ending November 17, 2024. A total of 14 student-athletes were recognized for performances from Nov. 11, 2024 to Nov. 18, 2024.
MEN'S BASKETBALL (#MAChoops)
MAC Commonwealth Player of the Week
Kai Cipalla (York / Sr., F / Lititz, Pa.) had a big week for the Spartans in road games against Centennial Conference foes. Against Hopkins, Cipalla had 20 points, eight rebounds, three blocks and four steals for the Green and White. In the overtime game against preseason Centennial favorite Gettysburg, Cipalla poured in a season-high 29 points with four rebounds, and one steal in 35 minutes of action. Cipalla was 11-for-19 from the floor including a career-high five three-point field goals. For the week, Cipalla averaged 24.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.5 steals and 1.5 blocked shots per game. He shot 51.4% from the floor and 38.5% from three.
MAC Freedom Player of the Week
Caleb Gibbs (DeSales / Sr., F / Elizabethtown, Pa.) helped the Bulldogs post a 1-1 record last week averaging 27.5 points, 11.0 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks in the two games. Gibbs recorded double-doubles in both games. He had 28 points and 12 rebounds in the win over Cairn University on Wednesday and totaled 27 points and 10 rebounds in the loss at Montclair State University on Saturday. For the week Gibbs shot 60.0 from the field (18-for-30) and 86.4 percent (19-for-22) from the free throw line.
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL (#MAChoops)
MAC Commonwealth Player of the Week
Mackenzie Dover (Albright / Sr., PG / West Orange, N.J.) led the Lions to a 1-0 week with a 9-point win over Moravian. Dover tied her career high with 27 points shooting 62% from the floor against the Greyhounds. The 27-point performance is the most of any MAC Commonwealth player this past week. Dover leads the MAC Commonwealth in points per game at 21.5.
MAC Freedom Player of the Week
Leyla Castro (Stevens / Jr., G / Old Bridge, N.J.) averaged 19.0 points, 5.0 assists, and 4.5 steals in a 1-1 week…poured in a season-best 23 points including 5-for-10 three's with three assists and three steals in a one-point loss to Kean…15 points, 7 assists, and 6 steals in a victory over Brooklyn on Saturday night.

MAC Offensive Player of the Week
Russell Minor-Shaw (King's / Sr., QB / Radnor, Pa.) Russell Minor-Shaw had five touchdowns and 252 yards of total offense in the game to remain undefeated in MAC play. He threw for 233 yards on 14-of-21 (66.7%) completion with three touchdowns while also rushing for 19 yards and two scores
MAC Defensive Player of the Week
Evan Kutzler (Lebanon Valley / Sr., FS / Souderton, Pa.) led the Dutchmen to a 27-0 shutout victory over rival Albright on Senior Day with his conference-leading sixth interception of the year and two tackles. The senior scored the first touchdown of the game as he picked off a pass and returned it 35 yards for a touchdown on the first play after LVC kicked a field goal to give the Dutchmen a 10-0 lead in the first quarter. Kutzler helped anchor a defense that allowed just 68 yards of total offense including 57 passing yards and 11 rushing yards.
MAC Special Teams Player of the Week
Tim Kissinger (Lebanon Valley / Sr., K / Mechanicsburg, Pa.) scored nine points with two made field goals and three extra points as LVC shut out Albright 27-0 in the annual rivalry game between the programs. Kissinger was 2-3 on field goal attempts making a 27-yarder in the first quarter to give LVC a 3-0 lead and a 40-yarder in the second quarter that made it 13-0. He missed a 46-yarder later in the second quarter.

MAC Offensive Player of the Week
Carter Jordan (Wilkes / Jr., F / Fort Collins, Colo.) scored a hat trick in the second game of Wilkes men's ice hockey's sweep over Lebanon Valley College this weekend, ending the weekend +3 with 7 shots and winning 50% of his faceoffs.
MAC Defensive Player of the Week
Cole DeFazio (Neumann / Jr., G / Oakville, Ontario) went 1-0-1 in net in two MAC games for Neumann. In a 5-1 win over Arcadia, the junior made 32 saves. He followed with 33 saves in a 2-2 in the second game against Arcadia. The Knights fell 1-0 in the shootout in five rounds. Overall, DeFazio finished with a 1.44 goals-against-average and a .965 save-percentage.
WOMEN'S ICE HOCKEY (#MAChky)
MAC Offensive Player of the Week
Karahkwenhawe White (Arcadia / Sr., F / Akwesasne, N.Y.) led the Knights in a 4-2 victory against Neumann. White had two goals and one assist. White's efforts helped lead Arcadia to a 6-0 start of their season.
MAC Defensive Player of the Week
Mia Frisoni (Lebanon Valley / So., G / Glenville, N.Y.) led the Dutchmen to a huge weekend sweep of MAC Preseason favorite Wilkes with 95 saves on 96 shots. The sophomore started off the weekend with 46 saves in a thrilling 2-1 overtime victory over the Colonels where the only goal allowed came off a rebound in the second period. She had 15 saves in the first period, 19 in the second, and 12 in the third. The goalie did not face any shots in overtime as the Dutchmen won 24 seconds in after winning the faceoff. Frisoni was even more impressive on Saturday against Wilkes with a season-high 49 saves in a 1-0 victory. The sophomore made 11 saves in the first, 10 in the second, and then an outstanding 28 in the third period after LVC scored an early goal in the period. Her 49 saves in a game is second in the MAC this season while her 46 is tied for fifth.

MAC Swimmer of the Week
Bryan Collins (York / Jr. / Hanover, Pa.) had a big weekend with three individual wins in the Spartans' meet against Washington College on Saturday. Collins not only won a trio of races, he set one new top times while he swam the second best time in the league in the other. Collins won the 50 free with a time of 21.10, just .14 seconds off his league best time of 20.96 that he set in the meet with Susquehanna. Collins touched the wall first in the 100 with a time of 47.10, which set a new best time of the season in the MAC. Collins finished off his freestyle trifecta with a time of 1:44.40 in the 200 freestyle. That time is the second-best time in the league so far this year, less than two seconds off the top mark. Collins now has nine individual wins in the Spartans' five meets for the year.

MAC Swimmer of the Week
Isabella Klemm (York / Jr. / Halethorpe, Md.) rolled to another three wins for the Spartans in their Saturday meet with Washington College. Not only did she win the three events but she set new top times in the conference in all three races. Klemm won the 100 breast, the 200 breaststroke, and the 200 IM. Her time in the 100 breaststroke was 1:05.72, the best time this year in the conference by just under four seconds. Her time in the 200 breaststroke was 2:27.13, the best time in the conference by over seven seconds. Her 200 IM time of 2:13.41 is the best conference time by just over three seconds. Klemm now has a team-high 13 individual wins for the year in York's five dual meets for the year. Klemm also has the second best time in the league in the 100 backstroke and the top 50 breaststroke split so far this season.

Wrestler of the Week
Keegan Demarest (Messiah / Fy. / Tannersville, Pa.) continued his successful rookie campaign with a first-place finish in the 165 lbs. weight class at the Shenandoah Invitational. Keegan has finished at the top of the podium for the third week in a row. Demarest began his day with two bye rounds in the bracket. In his first contested match of the day, Demarest picked up a 24-5 technical fall over Noah James of Southern Virginia followed by a 19-3 technical fall over Theodore Piluso of Randolph. Demarest defeated Justice Hockenberry of Elizabethtown via fall at the 5:25 mark to advance to the championship bout. A 5-1 decision over Johns Hopkins' Chris Roybal gave Demarest the victory. The Falcons won the Shenandoah Invitational with a team score of 205.5, 35.5 points over second-place Wilkes.
