Austin, Texas. (April 23) - FDU-Florham women's swimming graduate student
Sarah Dougherty (Kinnelon, N.J.) made history for the FDU Devils Athletic Department as the first ever multi-time College of Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-American selection as announced by the organization Tuesday afternoon. She was named to the Third Team this season after being a Second Team selection last year.
Last season, Sarah became one of four student-athletes in department history to receive this honor and now becomes the only one to earn it twice. This year, she represents one of 31 Division III student-athletes named to the team. She was one of only six student-athletes to receive this for the second time, is one of nine students to have maintained a 4.0. Sarah is the lone member of the Middle Atlantic Conference named to the Academic All-American team.
Dougherty wrapped her five-year swimming career this past winter. She stamped her name on the all-time record book a total of nine times with five individual records and four records as a part of a relay team. She also earned a total of six medals at the Middle Atlantic Conference Championships that included three silver medals and three bronze medals with five of them being individual medals and one being a relay medal, which was the first in program history.
She accomplished all of these feats in the pool while maintaining a perfect 4.0 GPA throughout her undergraduate and graduate classes as a Biology major. She has also been honored with four MAC Academic Honor Roll awards, has earned the Becton College Dean's Award for Academic Excellence in Biology and is part of the FDU Honors Academy. She is the President of the TriBeta Biological Honor Society as well as the Psi Chi National Psychology Honor Society.
